An Altered Frame For My Sister - Webster's Pages

I was transferring pictures from my phone to my computer and came across this picture of my sister and myself that was taken at her son's wedding back in September. I think it might be one of the only pictures we have together by ourselves and I decided to print it off and make a frame to give to her tomorrow while we are at our Aunt Betty's for Easter. Since she doesn't have the internet this will still be a surprise for her! I thought it would be nice if we both had one of these frames so I made one for myself as well...something I rarely do! I made a matching gift bag and card with the scraps left from the frames.

Supplies Used:

8x10 wood frame
Webster's Pages, not sure of what collection
Paper Studio Poppies & Paperie flowers
Generic paper flowers
EK Success Small Daisy Punch
Chipboard
Mounting Foam
Glue Gun

Hobby Lobby was having an awesome 75% off clearance sale about two months ago and I picked up a couple of packages of the Paper Studio Poppies and Paperie flowers. Of course I have a few flowers in my stash but for the 75 cents that was marked on the package I figured I could make room for a few more and I'm so glad I did because they worked great on the frames. I did use hot glue to attach the flowers as I have found that any other type of glue or tape just doesn't cut it in the long run. I punched out some vellum flowers using the EK Success small daisy punch and added dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centers. I can't find a link for the small daisy punch but it is one of my go to punches for when I need a "filler" on a project, I actually have 3 sizes of the daisy punch and love each one of them!

All the paper is from the Webster's collection and I can't rememember the name and forgot to look before I used the bottom strip as a border on the frames. I know it was from 2012 and was from one of their warehouse sales where you ordered a box for like $40 and got a TON of awesome stuff in the box.

I didn't have to do a whole lot of fussy cutting on this project but I did do some as there were some good images to use that made the project just come to life *okie wonders if anyone notices she is just typing kinda random shit about the project to make it sound interesting, and then okie wonders if anyone really reads the shit she types anyway*.

I fussy cut the large border at the bottom of the picture area and used chipboard on the back and then some mounting foam because ya know I'm all about dimension when it comes to such projects! I printed the saying "I'm as lucky as I can be because the world's best sister belongs to me" on the vellum and I used my laser printer as it does an excellent job on the vellum. I don't think this is a true vellum, but more of a "kinda like vellum and better for what okie wants to use it for" kinda paper.

After getting the frames completed I made the matching gift bag and card with the scraps left over from the papers I used for the frames. I think my sister will be surprised and pleased!

Forever Young - Giftbag Gorgeous

This is the last of the Forever Young gift bag card sets and I am glad because I am ready to move on to something else.

Supplies Used:
Cricut Expressions - Forever Young cartridge, George
Core'dinations cardstock
Doodlebug flock
White flowers misted with Glimmer Mist
Patterned paper My Minds Eye Simply Delightful
4x5 notecard
Hot Fix gems
White Signo gel pen
Cat Eye Chalk Ink

The mat the girl is on is from Elegant Edges. It was a little wider than what I needed so I resized it using the Gypsy. There are some great cuts on Elegant Edges and I can't wait to use some! I just chose a simple one for this since I wanted the Forever Young cut to be the focal point.

The white border is from Elegant Edges as well. They are some fantastic borders on there! And with using the Gypsy or DS I might never have to buy another border punch!

I was going to glitz up the gal a little but then I thought "who the hell is even going to care if she has a sparkle on her flower". Most of my friends that come to the Christmas party are not crafters so they don't notice the little details all you guys do.

Doodlebug flock was applied to the word "Gorgeous" the same way I applied glitter on the previous gift bag. Using the Xyron to do this makes it a lot easier than using glue and you get a more smooth application, at least I think so.

So I am off to new projects now. I think I am bored of just doing cards so it might be time to alter something....I wonder what I can find in my stash to alter!

Forever Young - Giftbag Posh

This is the third back of the Forever Young gift bag and note card set. I decided to mix it up a little and go vertical with the paper instead of horizontal *okie thinks she so loves to live on the edge somtimes*.

Supplies Used:
Cricut Expressions - Forever Young cartridge, George
Core'dinations cardstock
Doodlebug Glitter
White flowers misted with Glimmer Mist
Patterned paper My Minds Eye Simply Delightful
4x5 notecard
Hot Fix gems
White Signo gel pen
Cat Eye Chalk Ink

I actually got up off my lazy butt and looked to see what the patterned paper was that I have been using for the sets. I think I should have made the circle bigger but I am cheap and wanted to get 4 out of one sheet of paper, little did I know I was going to end up another sheet of paper for the small circles on the note cards! *okie gives herself a V-8 smack on the forehead*

After cutting the word "posh" I ran it through my Xyron and then sprinkled Doodlebug glitter over it.

The belt on the girl did have a flower but I decided to use a small Prima flower and use a small hot fix gem in the middle.

I had white flowers and used Glimmer Mist on them to color the flowers. I found that you have to have some patience to let the flowers dry because if you layer them too soon they will bleed. Luckily I found out quickly and was able to get them away from one another to dry and it didn't really mess them up. I think I will be trying some more of these flowers!!

Forever Young - Giftbag Stylish

So I finished up all the gift bags for the sets and will be posting in order how they were completed. The Stylish was the second set I did.

Supplies Used:
Cricut Expressions; Forever Young cartridge
Coredinations cardstock
Bridal confetti flowers
Hydrangea flowers from a vine I picked off
Patterned paper from a pack from Michaels
4x5 notecard
Hot Fix gems
Martha Stewart Scoreboard
Cat Eye Chalk Ink

I think this gal looks a little sassy with her small purse slung on her wrist and hand in her hip pocket. At least she doesn't have some kinda weird thing on her forehead!

I added a 2mm hot fix gem to her choker to give her a little more class *okie figures any woman would look classy with hot fix gems on their neck...might hurt like the dickens, but they would look classy*.

I will confess I used my Gypsy on all of the giftbags. I am trying to get use to it so I can use the E2 when it comes in. Hopefully I will understand the Gypsy enough by then that I won't spend weeks looking at the E2 and thinking "UH...now what do I do".

The lines on the orange strip of cardstock were done with the MS Scoreboard. I laid the strip face down and just ran the bone folder down the length of the strip. I have seen people use this method and always thought it gave interesting detail to otherwise plain cardstock.

I was in Salvation Army one day and found a vine of flowers. Some of them were ugly but some I thought I could use for cards. I got the vine for $1.99 and was able to get quite a few useful flowers from it, definitely worth the price!

The flowers on the note card are from Michaels and can be found in the bridal department. I think they change colors for seasons. I have about 6 different colors right now I do believe. I know a lot of card makers use these flowers. My friend Linda, aka LGuild, likes to get the white ones when she can find them. She says she thinks it is better to color them so she can get the color she wants. I am too lazy to do such a thing so I just go with what I have!

I will be posting the other two bags and note card sets over the next two days. I am ready to move on to another project now. This one kept getting interrupted with LIFE, sometimes I just hate that! Okay so I hate it anytime LIFE interrupts my crafting!!

Forever Young - Giftbag Attitude

HA HA HA. So I uploaded the pictures and then forgot to come back and write the dang post and then I forgot I had it scheduled to post today!

I am working on a set of gift bags using the Forever Young cartridge right now. I still have one more to finish. When I am done I will have 4 sets of 4 designs.

Supplies Used:
Cricut Expressions; Forever Young cartridge
Coredinations cardstock
EK Success flower punch
3/8" and 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon
I forgot what the patterned paper is and I am too tired and lazy to go look right now.
4x5 notecard
Spareparts brads
Cat Eye Chalk Ink

I pop dotted the matted image on to the bag. Oddly you can't really tell, even in person. Not sure why that is. I sanded the cardstock for the dress images before I cut them. This made it a little easier and I didn't have to worry about it tearing while sanding. I am not so sure about this gal's head. I don't know if she has a headache and has her hand in a fist or if she just has a big ball of hair sitting on her forehead.

I didn't think the ribbon looked very good with just the cranberry but when I added the jade ribbon it made it look more in place. I think the 1/4" was just too small. The colors really do go better in person. It's so hard to photograph colors correctly sometimes.

The little notecard is one that I got in a set of 25 cards and envelopes for $2.50. I think I got them at a stamp sale a few years back. I wanted a card that went with the bag but not over powered it. Oh okay I will be honest. I was just too dang lazy to come up with a design for a full size card! THERE ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?? *okie shakes her head at her readers making her be so honest*

3 Flower Happy Birthday Gift Bag Card Set

So I think this is the last set I have to post for awhile and I believe it is my favorite! I don't know if it is the colors or the flowers, but either way I really love this one!

Supplies used:
Cricut Expressions
Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots
DCWV Spring Stack circa 2008
Various carstock
Stampin Up markers
Signo UM-153 gel pen
Grosgrain ribbon

The sentiment is from Sweet Treats as are the flowers. I layered the sentiment using the same colors as that were used in the large daisy looking flower.

I can't remember what size I cut all the images because I used Design Studio and I rarely pay attention to the sizes. I am wondering how easy the new Cricut Craftroom software will be to use and can't wait to find out! I am sure there will be some things I don't like about it but as long as I can see the screen I should be in good shape *okie cusses under her breath about the Gypsy*.

I like how the large flower goes off the front of the gift bag. I keep wanting to do more of this method because I think it looks cool but I usually forget while I am designing and then don't want to go back and redo a design...YES IT IS BECAUSE I AM LAZY! *okie rolls her eyes and hates her readers making her be honest*. I used the Swiss Dots folder on the large flower center to give it a little dimension. A stylus was used on the petals and you might remember this method from a post a few days ago on the Half Flower set that I did.

I made the leaves on the stems by looping grosgrain ribbon and then attaching to the back of the "stem" with some ATG tape.

Now what to post tomorrow....hhmm, choices, choices, what shall I choose??

Sprinkled With Fun Gift Bag Card Set

Yep, it's another Sweet Treats cut!

I love this ice cream cone and thought it would make a great gift bag and card set.

Supplies used:
Cricut Expression
Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge
Bazzil Bling cardstock
Imaginisce paper stack
Drippy Goo paper punch
Spare Parts brads
Viva Pearl Pen - Ice White

The middle strip needed something on the card so I added some dots with the Pearl pen and I think it gave it just the little something extra to make the card pop. The sentiment is from Sweet Treats and it does have the layers to cut for it. I thought the words should match the ice cream, even if it isn't in the same order as the scoops on the gift bag *okie wonders if she is the only person that would notice such a thing*. I will admit I meant to punch some Drippy Goo strips for the card but forgot until after I had the cards put together and didn't want to go back and do them and take the card part to add them.

The ice cream cone is such a fun looking cut and I was trying to decide what "flavors" to use and figured the standard chocolate, vanilla and strawberry would be good. I think using the Bazzil bling cardstock gave it a nice sheen of icy goodness *okie cracks herself up sometimes with her dorky comments*.

I think the Drippy Goo punch added a cute touch to the gift bag and I used coordinating colors of the ice cream scoops. Oh and I filled in the areas on the pink scoop with the Pearl Pen.

Tomorrow will be my last gift bag card set, at least I think it will. We shall see!

Ready, Set, Blow Gift bag Card Set

Okay I have to tell you guys that it took a lot of will power not to cut a big "ME" and put on the inside of this card! But I resisted and it can be used for a child if needed *okie still thinks a big "ME" on the inside would be hilarious*.
Supplies Used:
Cricut Expressions
Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge
Stickles
Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder
Heat set studs
Signo UM-153 gel pen
MME Everyday Tango stack

I haven't used Sweet Treats in awhile but I have to say it is my go to birthday cartridge! I think I love every cut on there. Now with that said I do have Celebrations and like it but I just think the cuts on Sweet Treats are just so much cuter. I used Red, Orange Peel and Yellow Stickles to make the flame on the candles for the set. I think I got the "blow" too dark but ya live and learn and I am too lazy to go back and change it now. Besides that would be a waste of paper and I don't like to waste paper!

The shadow for the cupcake was actually quite a big bigger and I sized it down using Design Studio because I didn't want a shadow that thick. So if you think the shadow is off a little that would be the reason. For the icing on the cupcake I used Coredinations cardstock and after Cuttlebugging it I sanded it a little and then added Diamond Stickles. You can also see the little heat set studs a little better in this picture *okie wonders where she might find herself a nice heated stud and then suddenly remembers she forgot to put on her tinfoil had and knows her readers just heard her thought* uhhh...yeah a heated stud, like a wood block would be nice right now since my feet are cold *okie glances from side to side wondering if anyone is buying that and makes a mental note not to blog without her tinfoil hat anymore*.

So are you guys tired of the giftbag card sets yet? Hope not because I still have two more to be postin for ya'll to see!

Half Flower Gift bag Card Set

Sometimes things don't have to be overcomplicated *okie knows she over complicates things all the time but won't tell her readers that* or over decorated. I think this set is very simple!

My daughter liked this set because orange is her favorite color.

Supplies Used:
Cricut Expressions
Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge
Cricut Stamping cartridge
MME Everyday Tango stack
White Signo UM-153 gel pen
Grosgrain Ribbon
Circle punches in various sizes.

I cut out the flowers with the Cricut and then cut them in half with my guillotine cutter and then the same method with the centers of the flowers.

I like the sentiments on the Stamping cart because they are simple and have shadows. I haven't made any stamps with them but have used them quite a bit on projects. I believe I cut this sentiment at 1.5 inches. I thought about Cuttlebugging the sentiment but once again I got lazy and just wanted to get this done and move on to something else. Do you guys ever feel that way about a project you are working on? I feel that way all the time!

You can see a bit better where I used a stylus to run a line down the middle of the flower petals and then curved up a bit for a little dimension. I used Stampin Up markers for the faux stitching on the flower and then a white gel pen for the dots. Since the flower on the bag is larger I punched 3 circles for the flower center.

Hmm after seeing the pictures on here I do like the colors but how could I go wrong matching papers when they are from a paper stack! Oh the paper I am using on these sets are paper and not cardstock. I don't like using the thin paper on layouts or cards much but I think it is great stuff for projects like this since it is cheaper and I am not putting mega dollars into something that will be used once and tossed aside.

Cupcake Gift bag Card Set

I have been making some gift bag and matching card sets lately and thought I better get them posted before you guys think I gave up on crafting completely!

This first one is actually the one I made yesterday. Uh...and the day before. The whole Dexter Season 1 and 2 marathon made me a very slow crafter.
Supplies used:
Cricut Expressions
Cricut Celebrations cartridge
MME Everyday Tango Stack
Spare Parts Brads
Stickles
Grosgrain ribbon
Tissue paper
Cat eye Chalk Ink
Gift bag

I will tell you that I am posting a picture of the cutest giftbag. I got lazy and only did tissue paper on two of the large cupcakes. I got to thinking that these will probably be thrown away and I don't want to put that much effort into trash.

On the cupcake for the card I just Stickles to coordinate with the brads I used on the larger cupcake on the gift bag. I didn't write anything in the card thinking people might want to use it for something besides a birthday and they could write their own sentiment on the inside.

I cut the paper wrong for the card, I meant for it to run vertical instead of horizotal, like on the gift bag but once again I was on the phone and screwed up *okie thinks she really needs to stop talking on the phone and crafting because she messes up a lot of chit this way*.

On this larger cupcake I just used gift wrap tissue and folded to match the cupcake holder on the Cricut cut. I know the tissue paper does make it look so much nicer, but it was not an easy feat and I didn't want to do it on all four. Since these will be used as prizes at my Christmas party this year and most of my guests are not paper crafters they will never know that the tissue paper looks so much better.

I will be posting gift bag card sets for the next few days.
