MAJOR STRESS!! I Can't Use A Freaking Cricut!

So I was minding my own business *okie thinks...as I always do* and working on a layout for this week's Old Cricut Community scrapbook layout challenge and when I went to cut the title it wouldn't work! I was trying to use Celebrate With A Flourish and it just wouldn't register for some reason. I was using my jukebox and I pushed the button and it showed up on the screen of the Expression as if it was reading it but....NOTHING.

I turned off the Cricut, took the cartridge out of the jukebox and put it in the slot in the E and tried it that way....NOTHING.

I shut down Design Studio, turned of the E, took the cart out. I put the cart back in, turned Design Studio back on, wait for it to boot up...took Lucy out to potty....came back in and waited for Design Studio to finish booting up, turned on the E. Opened my design. Hit cut and....NOTHING!!

By this time I was major stressing because I had tried everything I knew to try and it just wouldn't register. I wondered if the cartridge was bad and decided to try and cut the title without Design Studio. I quickly learned that I have no idea what the hell all those buttons were on the dang Expression! I dug out my overlay from my storage boxes and put it on the E and then still couldn't find the dang cut. I finally clicked on "show cartridge" in Design Studio and found out what button I needed to push.

I pushed the wrong button and then found the correct buttons to push and then hit cut. I'll be dang it started cutting...but one thing was wrong! It started cutting the other image I had pushed previously. I was in a panic and didn't know what to do so I just let it cut. I was really scared what was going to happen as I cut the other layers so I turned off the Cricut each time to make sure the previous cut was gone and out of the memory.

I did finally get all the layers cut, even though some of the colors are a little different than what I originally wanted but there is no way I am going to go back and try to do that dang thing again.

Sadly I must admit, which I have admitted before, but I am totally serious this time....I CAN'T USE THE FREAKING CRICUT WITHOUT DESIGN STUDIO!! If I had to use those buttons again I swear I could go on mental disability for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder!! *okie decides she needs to go lay down and maybe call the doctor tomorrow about getting a prescription of valium to calm her nerves*

  3. I'll have to send my 6-year-old to your house. He's a whiz on the expression and thinks it's great fun.

  5. I'm with you Okie!!!!! I loved my design studio too, but now it won't work, I'm so sad. I use the new Cricut Craft Room but don't really like it. Sorry you were so stressed, hope you are doing better.

  9. You probably just weren't holding your mouth right. LOL! The last, and only time, I've made a cut using the buttons on my E was the day I took the newest one out of the box. I got it all set up, plugged in and loaded a piece of paper, pushed a randomly selected button and made a cut just to be sure the machine worked.

That's why my only question for Nathan on the MB was if PC would continue to support Design Studio.

Without Design Studio, my E will be just a big green paper weight! LOL!

  12. Amen! I have become so "electronisized" that I haven't even looked at the Cricut buttons in over 2 years - try teaching your 5 yo grandson to cut something and he figures it out before you can!! LOL!!

  13. Bwahahaha - I recently offered to cut stuff for my teacher friends decorating their rooms. They got excited about me cutting big letters for their boards & then I started to panic because I loaned my gypsy out months ago & haven't asked for it back yet. I have DS, but upgraded my computers & haven't bothered to go through the hassle of getting codes from Cricut to register it & make it work again. So, I sat her in panic mode knowing I'll screw up a BUNCH before remembering how to use the Cricut buttons. Then, none of them called me. Whew, I'm off the hook!!

Sent a text just now asking for my gypsy back in case I get asked later. By the way -- have you ever used Celebrate with Flourish through your jukebox or DS? It didn't work through Gypsy for the longest time after it was released. I was so disappointed to not be "able" to use it after buying it.

  14. I'm not sure I could use mine without my Gypsy! I've read all these horror stories about the gypsy dying and the nightmare of getting it replaced or fixed, so I would probably be right there with you at the doctor's office!

  15. I'm with you, I can't use my E without Design Studio or Cricut Craft Room either. SAD but true.

  16. that cart...'celebrate with flourish' is a bumb cart! i had it for several months before i could finally, 'accidently' link it to my gypsy. it took a long time before my DS would recognize it. there were several posts and comments about people having issues with this cart. another cart is 'car decals'. sometimes i can cut with cwf, other times i can't! but there 'is' an issue with that cart!

  17. Grrrr...exactly the way I felt when my Gypsy died! Design Studio no longer works on my computer and ALL of my cartridges are linked to my Gypsy. To top it off, I gave away all of my jukeboxes a long time ago. Now it's me and Cricut Craftroom and all of my 130+ previously linked cartridges. :-(

  21. I just had to replace my computer...My old one died along with so many of my bookmarks and programs!!! My DS was one I really wanted back. SOOOO I googled one of my favorite sites and thank goodness I found it. It is "Cricut Lovers Guide to Design Studio". The gal that has this blog is supper to say the least. I have found out how to keep just the carts that I have so it loads faster and also up-date it so it works with windows 7. This site has saved me more times than I can count sense I got my DS several years ago. The other great blog I've learned from is your evil twin (Hee-Hee)Capadia Designs. Hope this helps others. I agree Provo Craft really needs to keep DS up to date. I CAN"T GET THE CRAFT ROOM TO WORK FOR ME!!!!!

  22. OMGosh..... I have the same issues. I love my DS and am having a very hard time getting CCR to work. Maybe if I took the time to take the tutorials, it would help (Haha). I haven't updated DS for a while - afaid what might happen, so some of my new carts I have to use the plain old fashioned expression buttons. That makes it a guessing game with sizes. Have fun!!
