You Never Know How You Touch Others

I logged into Facebook and saw where Monique Griffith from Monique Griffith Designs, had put up some pictures from the Stampede. I was having a great time going through and looking at the pictures and then a picture of Monique, Joy - Obsessed With Scrapbooking, and Melanie - Courtney Lane Designs, pops up and tears start to flow *okie swears she is the biggest sap she knows*.

I know, I know, you are probably thinking "WTH OKIE!!". But to see Monique there standing with two other ladies that I know and admire and all three smiling so happily just hit me and made me realize how lucky we are to have Monique still with us. It also made me realize how easily others can touch us without our realizing it. I got acquainted with all three of the ladies on the Cricut Messageboard and while I do know Joy and Melanie in person *and okie can't wait until June to see them again at the Great American Scrapbooking Convention* I still consider Monique a friend as if I know her in person.

A few years back Monique came to my defense in a misunderstanding and that truly touched me and made me realize then what a great person she is. I think the thing about Monique is, I not only consider her a friend, but also one of my heroes. How she was able to go through her fight with cancer and present such a cheery positive attitude just attests to her being worth hero status. I can't even begin to describe the feelings of gratitude toward God for not being selfish and allowing Monique to continue here with us so she can not only share her creativity but also be a testimony of His goodness.

  5. Okie, you rock! I have always liked you, since the first day I bought my Cricut and joined the message board! You helped me with my silly avatar at the time and ever since I have followed you. And because of that, I found Monique. May I have half of the grace she has shown if I ever have to face such a battle! Thank you to both of you!

  9. Well, if you're a sap, then I'm in very good company! I don't know Monique but I love her work and her blog. God wasn't finished with her yet & we get to enjoy her & her creativity much longer. He brings people into our lives for a purpose. Sometimes they walk in and sometimes they're right here on the internet! God has a purpose for us all & He knows that one day we will need that person that He sent to us. That is why I do my best to respect & be kind to others - they just may be my angel on earth! I really enjoy reading certain blogs & going on cricuts MB. I'm going through some difficult times but when I "hang out" with my friends online, all I think about is "what the heck can I make now". :-) I cried too Shirley! You're a wonderful person- I can attest to that!

  10. Beautiful post Okie. To GOD be the glory for all HE has done!

I don't know Monique personally, but to hear of a fellow survivor warms my heart. Too many have been lost to cancer. Life is precious and our time here on earth is way too short...we should seize every opportunity to reach out to others in love and to appreciate what each has to offer.

May GOD continue to bless Monique with good health and may friendships continue to flourish.

  11. I totally agree with you Okie. It amazes me how very special and dear our on-line crafting friends become to us. Whether we ever have the opportunity to meet them in person or not really doesn't matter. They still hold special places in our hearts!

  19. I don't "personally" know any of the women from the MB (I have however admired their creativity for quite some time, lol) but your post brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful it is to have people in your life that can warm your heart.

They are truly blessed to have a friend in you Okie.

  22. Okie, where do I begin, my friend? I think the world of you - I really do. And you have no idea how much it means to me that you wrote something so sweet and completely from your heart. Getting to see Joy and Mel the other day was SUCH a highlight of this trip. I adore them to pieces. And God knows that He'd better not take me home before I get to meet Okie, or He's really gonna get an earful when I get there. ;) Love you bunches, friend. You have a heart of gold!
