Thanks for the hate mail! :)

Okay now now before some of ya'll get in an uproar let me tell you this...I am not defending myself, don't need to defend myself. I am simply typing out my thoughts on MY BLOG where I am allowed to say what I think *okie does wish her brain would stop popping it's thoughts up on the screen sometimes*.

Evidently there are some people that read my blog that don't agree with my view about the courts ruling on the lawsuit that Provocraft had against 3rd party software.

I have received numerous emails, about people leaving my blog *okie thinks there are some comments in there somewhere too* because I accepted the ruling of the court and was happy for ProvoCraft. I have also received some that told me I am stupid, an idiot, that I am taking food out people's mouths *okie isn't sure how that one works* and a few other things.

For the "drink the kool-aid" comments I shall share some information with you - I do not blindly love ProvoCraft. There are things I like and do not like. I have posted many times that I do not like MY Gypsy. I can't see the screen to do anything with it. There are cartridges that I think are gosh awful, but I just don't buy them.

I stand by my congratulations to ProvoCraft, which was actually the ruling of the courts of this great United States and isn't allowing copyrighted information to be stolen from a company who went through their legal hoops to protect what was theirs to begin with. **EDIT - it has been pointed out several times that it was a settlement, not a ruling. But with that said I think rarely does an innocent party settle**

If my feelings and opinions posted on my blog offend you then I shall hold the door open for you and bid you adieu, for I shall not miss anyone who can't accept that people have differences of opinion. If my agreeing with a court ruling causes me to lose every follower and reader I have then that is the way it is.

But guess what, I will still be here posting away because I do this as my therapy and I am quite happy to talk to myself *okie thinks a lot of people already know this*. I feel there are some folks that will stick with me. There are people who have met me in person and know that how I post is how I am if you meet me in person. I can debate issues with you and not change my feelings about you and if you are my friend online you are my friend in person.

And to end this little mumble jumble I will say I am proud to live in a country where people can disagree with one another without the fear of repercussion.

  2. Good for you, Okie! i generally don't get into these ridiculous debates - I simply buy and use the products I enjoy without worrying or caring about what others think. The one statement that always kills me is "They're in it just to make money". Well DUH! Why does any business or company do what they do???!!!
I'm glad you are going to continue to post and voice your opinion not to mention your inspirational projects! I just directed a friend to your blog the other day to search for your DS file for a graduation cap tassel that I've used several times. I don't generally come here to comment; I receive your posts in my email or read them on fb. I just chuckle and nod, and wait in anticipation for the next day's post. You make my day, Okie! Thanks for being you!

  4. You go girl, just keep talking, whether it's to us or just yourself. Like I said on FB, I admire that you left comments that were in disagreement with your views because that shows that you are a mature, if somewhat nutty, adult, where others were taking down anything that didn't agree with them.

So rant away with whatever pops in that brain of yours, some days I just need to come here and see that your brain is even more off kilter than mine LOL, other days, I look to be the tilted one.

  5. I am a MTC lover but I'm an Okie lover too...keep up your wonderful blog! It's great reading...and love where you put in your thoughts in italics!!
and AMEN to "And to end this little mumble jumble I will say I am proud to live in a country where people can disagree with one another without the fear of repercussion. "
    Keep it coming Okie!!

  8. Okie, I totally agree with you.

I just don't understand someones mind-set to think that a company should not protect their copyrights, it has nothing to do with greed.

I assume most of the grumbling is probably from persons who own these 3rd party software and now realize that do to these companies infringements their software is useless, what did they expect, it was illegal and yet they embrace the wrong-doers. go figure.

  9. You go girl. After all, it is YOUR blog and you are entitled to YOUR opinion. And if people don't like it, then don't read the blog!! We do live in a country where we are entitled to our own opinions and I personally thank the good Lord for that right! Thanks for sharing.

  10. I agree with you 100 and 10 percent. Keep it up.

  11. Ho Okie!

I totally agree with you and your stance.
I love Provo Craft and what they have offered me to advance my creative juices.

I understand both sides as avid SVG lover too. But they have a right to their property and images they create. I strongly believe that!
This Rock Girl thinks that the majority of people stating they are getting rid of their PC products are really not going to do that. It is all a bunch of hoopla.

  12. i'm sorry about the hate mail you recvd. it's just awful! you are allowed your opinion no matter who agrees/disagrees. that's one thing i like about reading your posts - you tell it like you see it. do i always agree with your thoughts? no, not always. do i send you hate mail for it? of course not! you just keep doing what you're doing until blogger makes it illegal to post your own opinions!

    ((hugs)) n luvs!

  14. Gosh, some people! I happen to agree with you :) This whole thing is just crazy!!

I love coming to your blog to see what you say and what you make, I just don't always leave comments.

I hope you have an enjoyable spring break!!

  15. You go girl!! I am in total agreement with you on the fact that is your blog and you can say what ever you like!! We all have a right to our own opinion and I respect yours. I do own the SCAL program but could care less what the judgement is on either side. I only use it to print fonts mostly. I have like 60 carts from Provo Craft and using SCAL has never deterred me from buying a cart I want. I admire you for voicing your opinion and always enjoy reading your blog(especially when your thoughts pop up on the screen)!!! You keep doing what you do and we loyal fans will always be here!!!

  16. Oh my gosh, people slamming you for your post on your own blog? That is just dumb. It's your blog. Geesh. I love my MTC, but I'm not leaving your blog because you don't. That doesn't mean that you don't make one bad ass card that can inspire me. I don't think the court ruled on this though right? It settled out of court so it never got that far....but that's just my nitpicking. You have the right to say what you want! You are too entertaining not to follow LOL.

  17. Not going anywhere. I'm here to stay. I'm so sorry that you received hate mail, that's just crazy. It's a shame some people think that we're not entitled to our own opinion or that you're not entitled to post your's on your blog. You just keep doing what you do Okie ..... I'm right behind you.

  18. Hey Okie, Good for you. I enjoy your blog and your sense of humor. On this issue, I am in agreement with you. I am sure that I have disagreed with something you have said before, but people don't always agree and life can still go on. The need to be hateful is one I simply don't understand. So thanks for the giggles and the creative inspiration.

  19. Keep on being true to yourself Okie! You can't please everyone and some people are just full of hot air. I'll be sticking with you for whatever that counts.

  20. Good for you Okie!!! I missed the other post. I don't even know what the ruling is that you agree with. But I do agree that we all have the right to express our opinions. We all have the right to agree or disagree with them. But this is your blog to say & do as you please!!!
    BTW, I'm going nowhere!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. i don't always agree with everything you say but who cares, right? not everyone agrees with everything i say. and sometimes i'll say something only to regret it later on. i just don't like to see people get stirred up and argue. like watching judge judy, good grief, who needs the drama! but that said, i still love reading your comments and you make me smile and if i ever met you in person, know....that i would like you very much. if 'i' stirred anything up, i'm sorry. it wasn't my intent. i haven't gone back to read and follow ups, so i have no idea what happened. as for sending 'hate mail'.??? shame on the person/persons doing that. thats the cowards way out if you can't say it face to face.

  26. I like MTC and use it. I think the customer service at MTC is much better than at ProvoCraft. But, I totally understand the reason for ProvoCraft's lawsuit. It is disappointing that the use of 3rd party software was abused.

Just last week on a forum I belong to a user shared an MTC design that had a PC Cartridge image I recognized. She got it from a forum that got it from somewhere else and had no idea it was a copyrighted image. THAT is the problem -- the copyrighted Cricut Cartridge images are out there for anybody to get for free. By the way, when I brought it to the attention of the person who shared she immediately removed the file and apologized.

As I said, I like MTC and use it... for cutting simple shapes I get from other sources... but I also really enjoy my 2 copies of Design Studio, my Gypsy and my 45 Cricut Cartridges for the very detailed work that has been all done for me... all I have to do is press CUT! I'm excited to check out the upcoming Cricut Craft Room and hope it has some of the key features MTC is so popular for ;)

    Thanks Okie!!!

I agree with you on this but even if I didn't it wouldn't make me send mean email or not come to your blog every day! Keep up the good work and the reminder that this is America! Everyone gets to have an opinion.

  29. Good for you! I agree with you as well but that's besides the point! I started following a few months ago, when you were making the pooh cards. 30. Okie thank you for being a strong enough person to say what you believe and stand behind those beliefs! I happen to agree with you on this matter; PC HAS every right to protect what they fought hard to attain. I too love their products (for the most part) and agree that third party software does NOT have a right to "steal away" biz from PC. I also agree that PC *Should* come up with better software (I do use DS - but it does have it's limitations) but I'm willing to wait for that!

    Thanks Friend!

  31. I wish I could say, I can't believe people would do that, but alas, unfortunately people do. I also have to wonder why people feel the need to be nasty. This is your blog, to me it's like visiting your home. People need to be respectful.

Okie, you have a great blog which I thoroughly enjoy reading and will continue reading!

  35. Hate mail? Oh boy! some people have no morals or respect. Whether Provocraft were right or wrong it's YOUR blog and you can write what you want - as I did on mine! :-)
Anyway! What I want to say is..... I still looooove all you do, will continue to drop by when I have time, if that's alright, 'cos I get loads of inspiration even if I can't use the cutfiles. And forget the tea or coffee - it's 7pm here in the UK - time for the wine! Nice cold Chardonnay anyone? lol. Jude.x

  36. Although I am one that disagrees with your opinion,I do agree that you are entitled to have yours, and me have mine. I do not agree with every friends beliefs nor they believe in all of mine. I did read what you wrote the other day on your blog and chose not to respond to it, I did however, notice that you allowed people to post negative comments on YOUR blog that disagreed with you. To me, that earned my respect for you. You allowed them to have their own opinions too. Good for you.

  56. Go ahead, Okie! You tell em' like it is!

If some people want to twist themselves into knots and become upset because PC took the legal steps necessary to protect their intellectual property, then so be it; it's their prerogative. But, if someone tried to piggyback on and enrich themselves off of my inventions and hard work, I'd do the exact same thing that PC has done. It's not bullying or being greedy (that implication just seems ridiculous to me). It's called being SMART!

And if THEY don't like what YOU have to say, then THEY shouldn't be reading YOUR blog! Like my Grandma always says: "Goodbye, so long, and don't let the doorknob hit ya where the Good Lord split ya on the way out!"

I love your blog, I love your refreshing and honest points of view, and most importantly, I love you! (Even though you're enabling me to death! LOL LOL) I'm not going ANYWHERE! :o)

  62. You go girl! Honestly = it's your blog and even if I wouldn't agree with you on something, although in this case I do, it's your God given right to express your thoughts. For those of you who disagree, be kind in your responses. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and telling you to read this or agree with Okie. It's okay to disagree but why do you think it's okay to be mean or rude? Would you want to be treated that way? Of course not, so don't subject someone else to that either.

Thanks, Okie, for all you share and talk about. I read your blog every day and it helps make my day better.

  63. Okie - I am one who happens to disagree with you (I love my SCAL and my Cricut cartridges - which I KEEP buying BTW! - LOL!) BUT, in no way does that mean I want to leave your blog! 70. Your blog is your own little world and if you cannot speak your mind in your own little world, well then, where else could you???!!!

The thing I like about you most is that you clearly state your point and I usually agree -- that, my dear, is called a miracle. (Get to know the real me to know just how amazing that is!)

I don't have any of the software that is in this debate, but I do wish Provocraft would let us use our own artwork to cut on their machines. That said, I also wish I could grow money on trees and other things that will never happen.

  73. 1st-what an incredibly hot topic this whole lawsuit has become. I can't believe how strongly people feel about all this. It's turning into the Hatfields and McCoys!
2nd-I can't believe that based on your post people would stop following you. Just seems ridiculous to me. And you're right, if they're going to leave because of it, there's the door.
3rd-Your inner voice is very entertaining. I can see why you don't mind your own company. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  74. Okie, I admire that you stand up for your opinions! I agree with you that ProvoCraft was justified in standing up for its rights and I am glad they won. I never intended to get any of the other software programs because I didn't think it would be right (or legal) to use them on my Cricut. Love your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Love you blog Okie. I've been reading for about a year and don't think I've left you a comment yet. Your blog, you say what you want. I don't know much about all this lawsuit business, my goodness but I will definitely still be reading your blog. You have great ideas and your posts are just hysterical and fun to read. Thanks to you I am a proud owner of a Janome Sew Mini that I used for the third time today and just love to death. Wish I could get you a kick back from the company. Thanks for your grat blog, I look forward to your future posts!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hi Okie! I love following your blog and get a lot of chuckles from the things you say. Even though I disagree with you on this topic that doesn't mean we still can't be "friends".

I do just want to make one point....The courts did NOT rule in this case it was settled out of court. This often happens in cases where big companies sue little companies...little company can't afford to defend itself. So with that said who is to say if MTC was guilty of anything?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Okie-

I would like to say I don't think that there is anything that you could do to make be stop following your blog. I adore you and your mumblings! I think that you are a talented and your opinions on topics such as this really don't phase me at all. I am really confused on the whole ridiculous comments on this particular issue.

I will continue to ignore what those nasty ones are saying and continue to read your blog, message board and facebook comments. I am so glad that you are who you are and look forward to one day meeting you and having the pleasure to scrap with ya!

    Sherri

  78. Very well said! The last time I checked, this was "your" blog! Feel free to post what you want, when you want. If someone doesn't agree, then they are free to leave and follow only those that they do agree with. I like Provocraft and some of their products, which are the ones that I buy. You can't like everything about everyone, and you can't please everyone either! Keep being you, and I hope that one day I get the chance to meet you in person. You crack me up on your blog!
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Definitely staying on as a fan and a friend, and also a PC supporter. I love SCAL and MTC for my own reasons but even I totally agree with the lawsuit. The outcome was a settlement BTW, just for your info and not to diminish your comments.

Also I believe PC has previously taken a very lenient stand on the "others" sorta looking the other way a bit, until they took the cart images. Ya know they probably even have a legal obligation to Disney and the other artists to help protect their artwork!

I find it very interesting to see things in their own circuit magazine with a TTF cut on it. Hypocrites? No just realistic and reasonable and actually quite generous of them.

Keep it up Okie, you are great just the way you are and sorry bout the nasties out there.

  80. Well, you can't make me leave no matter what you say, lol! But you know where I stand - right next to ya, girlfriend! Don't worry about those folks (like I really think you do), this is YOUR blog and if someone don't like what you say, well bye then! Keep your chin up!

  85. I have never met you but would love to. I think it is sad that people think that only their opinion is the right one and everyone else is wrong. It is so childish to leave your blog because you dodnt have the same opinion as they do. I LOVE your blog Okie , your little comments are just great!! I will not leave your blog because you have an opinion than mine ( even tho Im right LOL!!) Dont change you are great just the way you are!!!

  86. Provo Craft is supposed to protect their investment, and whoever does not like how they are doing it doesn't have to buy their products. Some people think its ok to fraudulently acquire what PC has worked hard to give to crafters, but I'm not one of them. Okie thanks for "keeping it real" and don't worry about those "fake people" who are only kewl with you as long as you are stroking them and allowing them to get over.

  87. Okie, I think from the response you've received, you can see you will always have people who support your opinions. It's unfortunate when some resort to name calling instead of reinforcing their own arguments with perhaps something persuasive or smart. As for PC, I love them & dislike them depending on the product/tardiness, etc. Either way, if someone likes a product, they can always emulate it & call it something else- that's the freedom we have in the U.S. So PC has nothing to lose & neither do consumers. IMHO, there are better arguments to be won anyway.

  88. Can't get rid of me that easy! LOL I can see both sides of the fence on this one, but I don't believe that the other softwares should steal PC's images. That is plain wrong!!!

  89. You go girl - I ain't leaving...

  90. Good for you! I completely agree with you backing ProvoCraft. I am so sorry there are nasty people out there. Thank you for your great blog. I appreciate everything you do!

  92. Right on sister! It's all about being respectful.

  93. Looks like you're still going to have plenty of people to entertain every day (me included). Keep doing what you do. It would be downright weird if you didn't speak your mind:-)

  94. Hey again Okie:

I did some further research on this lawsuit with MTC which was settled out of court. Apparently, MTC added something to their software which allowed the users to "backup" their Cricut cartridges - on this point I agree with you that MTC violated PC's copyrights of the cartridges. The lawsuit with SCAL was just filed in Jan. of 2011 so we'll have to wait and see on that one - the writer of SCAL didn't put anything into his software which does anything to a Cricut cartridge, EXCEPT you must have a Cricut cartridge in the Cricut (not any specific cart, just A cart) - I don't know how that fits into the legal issue, but I will be watching!

When I'm wrong, I admit it - and I was wrong about the MTC suit!

    Thanks again,
    Jackie

  95. LOL!! I don't often comment on your blog but read it diligently... I find it quite ridiculous that anyone would take umbrage to your opinion!! As you said, it is your blog and therefore subject to your thoughts, etc... I'm still laughing!! Happy that you take such things so well. ;)

  96. You know, in the long run, in 100 years from now, or maybe even 10, nobody will care at all about whether Provo Craft is good or bad or indifferent. So, oakie, keep on voicing your opinions. If I disagree,I will disagree but it isn't a matter of such importance that it will throw my life out of kilter. I will take what you say and what you offer on your blog, use what I can use, think about it all, and leave the rest. In the light of life and death, tragedy and joy, why do scrapbooking, papercrafting and trivial things like what a company does or doesn't do matter enough to cause such an uproar? I don't get it.

  97. I'm still here too. Love reading all that your brain pops out on the screen!! :-)

  98. Not going anywhere! Why can't people just agree to disagree....been married for over 30yrs but don't think we would have made it except for the agree to disagree rule. Still got love in our hearts! To much hate in the world not enough Love. Keep on Crafting!!!

  99. I love you Okie! You tell them girl friend. I wish I could put my words together like you do.

  100. YOU Go GIRL!!!! If they don't like what you have to say, well there's the door. That's my way of thinkin'.

  101. Okie - You Rock!!! Your honesty and humor are the main reasons I will stay your follower. And, one of the reasons I read your reviews of products - You are not biased in your opinion! You ain't gettin' rid of me that easy!!!! Love you and your blog!

  102. It is your blog and if they do not want to hear what you have to say, then they do not have to read it. I, for one agree with what you said and totally it is what I would have said too. I do not like everything PC does or creates, but then I do not have to buy it if I choose not too. Hang in there girl and I love your blog and keep doing what you do and forget the haters, they are everywhere!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Totally agree Okie! How dare someone tell me that because I don't subscribe to THEIR line of thinking, there's something wrong with ME! Who told YOU that YOUR thought process was golden? Now that is backwards thinking for ya! And pure evidence that YOU are the one that has a problem.

Each of us are entitled to support the ideas that we believe in and express them as we feel. It should go without reason to say that we should be able to agree to disagree.

I appreciate the fact that you are true to yourself and express yourself in your truths, Okie.

    P.S. Yay Provocraft!

  104. Oh, Okie!!! I can't believe you got hate mail!!! I'm so sorry! I just can't imagine anyone hating you -- at all-- and expecially because you're entitled to your own opinion!!!

I still love you! And, although I don't get to visit with you often, I'll still be here when I can!!!

  105. Good for you! You have every right to say whatever you want on YOUR blog! I for one enjoy your blog and won't be leaving!

  108. I completely agree with you Okie. I find it, I don't know, ironic? that the same people who are calling the MBers "Stepford Wives", Kool-Aid drinkers, people who can't accept that other people might have a different opinion are they, themselves these exact thing. I don't get why they don't realize that some people don't need, want, have the time or patience to create from scratch. Why reinvent the wheel. As you and so many others have said, PC had/has the right to protect something that they spent a lot of money, time and energy creating from someone who wants to ride in on their coattails. People are talking about taking money out of his mouth. No, he did that by not doing his homework before and making sure it was legal.

    Keep up the great work!

    ReplyDelete
  109. We do live in America folks! We all can have opinions. I can certainly understand why ProvoCraft worked to protect their work product.
Okie- you're still my favorite blogger!

  110. You go girl, I will keep folowing your blog.

  111. I am so totally with you on this issue Okie ... both in your original opinion, and your efforts to hold open the door ... I'll be right there next to you to help if you need it.

I won't go into all the legal stuff, they have already been hashed over by those wiser and more informed than I am ... but still, PC won in this situation. Good for them! And I am not going to respond to those that view this differently, after all they are entitled to their own opinion too. However, I do condone those that would lash out on someone else because they do not agree with their opinion. Shame on them!

I love that you openly share your opinion, and even if I didn't agree with you (which I do), I would still defend your right to it.

Always stay true to who you are and don't let those that oppose get you down. You are a special person, an inspiration to many, and someone I consider a FRIEND!

    Hugz,
    Carol

  112. This is why I love your blog, you say what you mean! You are allowed an opinion and I happen to agree with you! Keep up the good work!

  113. I have been under a rock... I did not know this was going on. I am happy for PC, I wondered what took them so long! I have worked as an engineer I always thought IT was stealing from PC.

  114. OKie, although I love your blog and what you do with it. And I dont get into debates about these things. There is one thing I had to mention in reference to you what you stated " **EDIT - it has been pointed out several times that it was a settlement, not a ruling. But with that said I think rarely does an innocent party settle" And this is where I will call you out on. Every single day of the week people and companies settle for many reasons other than being guilty of anything. You have your right to express your opinion and anyone who doesnt agree can always go somewhere else. But please also understand that settling does not mean guilt or otherwise. And this is said from someone who works in our court system. The laws are very flawed in many instances and a big conglomerate against a very small company or even person is always based on money not right or wrong. So, when someone or some company does not have enough money to go up agains a company who has too much would call for a settlement. With that said, I will repeat I love your blog and what you do, but it does not mean that you are correct in your assumptions in this circumstance

    ReplyDelete
  115. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if PC settled with MTC, making it possible for MTC to not be driven out of business. I'm sure PC just wanted what was the right, fair, and legal ruling for them---that doesn't necessarily mean you have to drive another company out of business in order to make that happen. It is possible to settle and take back what is rightfully yours to begin with.

  116. I have been following you since I joined the MB after purchasing my E. While I am what you call a "MB silent member" due to some of the drama on the MB that was happening and I always had trouble with posting pics on it. You have always shared your cut files and been a very nice lady, who does not deserve such nasty stuff said on her own blog. I have both SCAL, over 50 carts, DS, which I hate with a passion, and the Gypsy. I am glad that we can agree to disagree. Don't listen to the "koolaid" people!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Okie,
Sorry that people are slamming you. I too agree with you show me one company that isn't in it to make money. I think PC had to make a stand where their product is concerned. Thanks for your comments I love your blog and I love you and your talent that you share with us everyday. Thanks for being you.
