You are not going to believe this!!

After arguing with my daughter last night *okie skips the details* I gave in. I decided to go to the store and get a pack of cigarettes. I just couldn't handle it any longer.

I get in the car and it is sprinkling. No big deal. Then the wind starts to blow. I get about 2 blocks from my house and it looks like hurricane winds. By the time I get to the place where I buy cigarettes it is raining sideways, there is lightening all across the sky, the wind is literally rocking my car. I get lucky and am able to park under the covered drive thru, which closes at like 7 pm and this is at like 10 pm. I see cars pulling off the road. I guess it was raining too hard for them to see. It starts to hail, not big, but still hail.

I am thinking "I am not getting out of the car in this *beep*", so I sit there looking at the other cars, watching the rain fall sideways and then I start laughing and looking out the window up toward the sky and start talking *okie knows if anyone was watching her at this point they likely would have called the men in the white coats* to God. I am telling God "FINE! JUST FINE! Seriously God if you didn't want me to have the cigarettes You could have just said so".

So it might be considered a little self centered to think the storm happened just so I wouldn't buy a pack of cigarettes. But ya know what....at this point what ever it takes to keep me from smokin is fine by me. Well okay maybe not WHATEVER it takes....but ya know what I mean.

  6. I truly do not know how hard it is since I have never been a smoker, but I have watched many people try to quit and struggle with it over and over so I know how addicting it is.
I am so proud of you for doing this knowing how hard it is for you...and you are sticking with it...and I do believe God had a hand in that, too....you have come too far to smoke again after a fight with your daughter...it's not worth it.
My Dad and FIL both died of small cell lung cancer so it scares me.
My Mom quit somewhere around 40 or so ago and still says she would die for a cigarette EVERY morning with her morning coffee. But that's not the addiction....it's just that want of it...you can do this...my sister smoked 2 packs a day, decided to quit and just stopped...never looked back and never waivered...it's easy for some but not usually...hang in there...you are doing GREAT!!!!

  7. Im not overly religious or anything, but I do know God talks to us in many different ways, and I truly believe he was talking to you last night. I'm glad you didn't get the cigarettes. You will make it thru this. You have a lot of support. More than most. So stick with it Okie! YOU CAN DO IT!

I quit 9 years ago, but not without the help of wellbutrin. My kids were scared. They were like Oh no mom don't stop smoking we won't be able to stand you. But we all made it out alive. I am sending positive vibes your way. I kept an un-lit cigarette in my car for almost a year. I rewarded myself by putting 4.oo in a jar everyday. At the end of the year I went on a cruise with my hubby. So heres to you. I know you can do it. Nina

  11. Okielady-Keep up the faith!! You CAN beat this!! I remember how hard it was for my mom to quit smoking.. she felt sooo much better in the end. After a time she even realized after quitting (and yes there were a few days where she sneaked one) that she could taste more flavors in food. So I keep thinking of you and HANG in there!! Drink lots of water.. help your body flush the bad stuff away! Sincerely, an Okie fan!
