Wedding card - Cuttlebug only!

I think I have turned into a lazy butt or something since I haven't been making regular posts. I have been making things, just haven't taken pictures *okie smacks her hand and says "bad okie...bad bad bad okie*. I am scheduling a few posts so you guys won't be over run different things in one post.

This is a card I made for someone who recently got married. I made it earlier in the week but didn't want to post it until I thought it has arrived to the receiver. I tried to mail it out one day but then the mailman didn't pick it up. I got a little perturbed about that until I read where he had put "44¢", then I felt a little silly. Not having a 2¢ stamp I had to use another 42¢, but I figure the receiver is worth it *okie cracks up laughin*.

*okie looks behind her and sees her shiny red E sitting there and then whispers....* I didn't use my Cricut at all, only used the Cuttlebug. I used Victoria on the card and border Swiss Dots on the tag. The sentiment is an Stampin Up set I got at the stamp sale back in the fall, I also used the SU corner ticket punch on the sentiment block. The card and tag are made from opal Mica cardstock. That stuff emobsses beautifully! The little flowers are Prima's and for the centers I embossed some plain brads with some black glittery embossing powder. I don't know what kind of ribbon I used, it was some I got at the LSS that closed down.


For the inside I used a piece of pearlescent vellum to stamp the sentiment on and also used the corner ticket punch on it. I used some vellum tape to attach it. I did use Stazon ink for stamping the Sentiment. Since I am not familiar with stamping on vellum I wanted to make sure the ink wasn't going to smear *okie doesn't mention that she also used the Stazon so she could sniff it.....okie really likes the smell of Stazon*. The card isn't messed up at the bottom, I had to get rid of what I had written in the card. Silly me, I didn't take a picture until after I signed it!


I really like how this card came out. And it was so simple. Sometimes I am just amazed at how versatile that the Cuttlebug is! And folks if you don't have one.........YOU NEED ONE!!

Sweet Treats Thursday - St. Patricks Day!

Happy Sweet Treats Thursday my dear bloggies *okie wonders if bloggies is the right term...thinks about it for a minute...shrugs shoulders and decides she likes the word bloggies*. Our assignment for this inspiration Thursday on the Cuttlebug Challenge is St. Patricks Day. My projects are an etched mug and a lapel pin. The mug is hard to take a picture of so I am posting several so you can get the idea.

I purchased the mug from Walmart for $2 and will be given to my BFF Karen *okie thinks regular readers will recognize the name* who in fact is Irish! I know she will be excited to travel the country carrying this mug to drink margaritas! *okie cracks up laughin* I cut the design on vinyl. I removed the design off of the backing and then applied transfer tape on what would be the negative of the image and then applied to the mug. I used the Amour Etching Cream which is simple to use but does smell a little bad LOL. The ribbon is some I got at Walmart in the craft section and is simply tied on so she can take it off for washing purposes.











The lapel pin was made using Mini Monograms and Paper Doll Dress Up. I used stamps for the U Lucky and rainbow. The gold coins are iron on studs purchased at Walmart and I used my Hot Marks tool with the mini-flow point to apply them. I used a white Signo UM-153 gel pen and a black Stampin Up marker for the doodling. I cut the pot in gold and then I cut two of the pots in black. I cut off the gold coin area on the bottom black layer and then cut the top off the pot of the second cut and ran the bottom through the cuttlebug and pop dotted to the full black layer. For the back I used a pin from a name badge that I had. I just used super glue to adhere it to the back of the pin.

The Loads of Love stamp set....

Has so many options! I am going to have to order the accessory set to go with it for sure! I just love this little pick up! The layout for the card was taken from the Stampin Up catalog and I really like it!

I stamped the pick up and flowers on white and colored the wheels and flowers using Stampin Up markers. I also shaded the window and windshield slightly using a Stampin Up blending pen and a blue marker *okie forgets which one right off hand*. I stamped the pick up on yellow and cut it out and pop dotted it on top of the white.

I can't remember what the patterned paper is off hand as I got it on clearance at a LSS over a year ago. The maroon is the back side of the patterned paper. The solid green is Prism cardstock and I used a Martha Stewart border punch.

I used crochet thread and for the button and tied it around the ribbon before adhering the ribbon to the card.

I used a silver gel pen to color the bumpers, door handle and hubcaps. The stitching and dotting was done with the Chocolate Chip Stampin Up marker. Chestnut Roan Cateye Chalk ink was used for the shading around the edges.

YOU ROCK!

One of the stamp sets I got at my Stampin Up part was the Just Jawing. My daughter had seen this one and loved it and I thought it might be a good one for teen cards *okie being the honest injun she is adds the following...* and to be honest I love this stamp set also!

I am trying to get away from my standard card layout and use more solid cardstock on my cards. I did stamp the rust cardstock with the Stampin Up craft white ink with the stars stamp that came with the set.

I stamped the skull twice with Stampin Up basic brown and then cut them out. I cut off the bones for the top layer and pop dotted it on the bottom layer *okie is so dimensional she should be a 3D movie!*. I also pop dotted the blue bow with Stampin Up Bordering Blue. I shaded around the skull and bones using the blender pen and Bordering Blue ink. I added some orange Stampendous holographic stickers to the eyes.

The You Rock is also stamped with Bordering Blue.

The punched edge is with the new Stampin Up border punch available in their Sale-a-Brations catalog...which I actually got for free!! WOOHOO!! *okie so loves free*

Now do ya see the little gold dots on the patterned paper? Well those are iron on studs! I used my Hot Marks tool with the mini-flow tip to apply them on the card. I think they will be my new addiction! I got a wheel of different shapes and sizes of iron on studs at Walmart for $11.

Honky Tonk....

Birthday Wishes! Okay for some folks that might not seem like a good birthday sentiment but being from the great state of Oklahoma....well it hits right on target! LOL

A friend of mine was able to get Old West for me for a great price. I have been checking eBay and couldn't ever find it for a price I wanted to pay so I was glad when she said she could get it for under $30! I have wanted this one since it came out. I knew I had to have this one...I mean I am an okie after all! I did borrow my friend Linda's to do a layout, that just put the nail in the coffin about me getting it!

For the HONKY TONK BIRTHDAY WISHES card I used Stampin Up Chocolate Chip and Creamy Carmel carstock for the solids. I used a paper piercer to give the look of stitches on the Chocolate Chip and then used a black Stampin Up marker to make the stitching. The red paisley paper is made by Creative Imaginations. I used a white Signo UM 153 pen to do the stitching on the paisley mat and then turned up the edges. It is also a cut from Old West that reminds me of a wanted poster with the distressed and torn edges.

The boots are some paper I picked up a long time ago and I thought it gave the look of leather. I did cut them out in black and then the brown. I trimmed the bottom off the brown so I could have a heel and sole on the boot. The green is Prism cardstock and those cuts are a layer cut. Chestnut Roan was used to ink the brown and dark green for the hunter green parts of the boots.

I cut Honky Tonk twice, once in the green and then once in holographic paper. I think if you click the picture you can see the holographic better.

I used some twine wrapped around the card mat and then just tied it. The concho button had a loop type attachment and I took some pliers and took it off. I used mounting foam to adhere it to the card.

Here you can see more detail on the dimension. I used pop dots on one of the boots and also on the concho button.

I am going to stamp the sentiment on the inside. I think it could be used for a variety of occasions...especially for that favorite cowboy or cowgirl!

That Takes The Cake!

Okay so I am a little addicted to the Sweet Treats cartridge! I kept wondering about this cart and thinking "okie...seriously how many cupcake cuts does one need". Well evidently one needs at least 20 since that is about what I have in cartridges I own! Ya know the odd thing......I don't even like cupcakes!! HONESTLY! Now if they had a cup-pie I would be all over it! *okie cracks up laughin.

Enough talk about cupcakes since this card is a slice of cake. I just love the saying THAT TAKES THE CAKE, not even sure why though. The cut file is set to cut 4 at a time and all the mats are labeled according to color. Of course you can choose different colors.

I know the colors are a bit odd but I kinda like them! I used a Stampin Up embossing folder for the light purple mat behind the cake. I used mica for the icing and words on the cake.

The card base was a little plain looking to me so I used a Versamark ink pad to stamp some funky flower images on it and I think it added a little something it needed. If you don't have a Versamark pad definitely get one!

I did a bit of doodling to the cake and also faux stitching next to the ribbon. There is Glossy Dimensions on the cherry for some nice bit of gloss.


I pop dotted the cherry on top of the cake and then the cake it's self. Ya know I love some dimension!

The party is on! MARDI GRAS!!

For this week's project on the Cuttlebug Challenge we were assigned to use the theme of Mardi Gras. As a born and bred okie I have no idea what Mardi Gras is all about and about all I know is that ya gotta flash people on floats to get some plastic beads *okie knows if she flashed anyone she would have give folks beads to even look...and possible $5 bills*. Sooo...anywho...I chose to make a mask and a party invitation.

Here is a picture of the mask and card set. I also decorated an envelope to match the set. The mask really does fit a face, well at least mine! *okie cracks up laughin*. I have a picture further down in my post.








For the MARDI GRAS INVITATION you will need the following cartridges:
Don Juan - Mardi Gras
Mickey and Friends - necklaces
Indie Art - mask decorations
Paper Doll Dress Up - mask
George and Basic Shapes - ovals for lettering

The mats are all labeled according to color but of course you can choose to use different colors if you wish.

I used the D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder for the card mat for the texture. The paper is Black Magic by Coredinations. I wanted something subtle in the background but needed something that was just plain. I embellished with Stickles in the following colors - purple, diamond and platinum.


For the MARDI GRAS MASK you will need the following cartridges:
Indie Art - mask
George and Basic Shapes - eye holes

I used chipboard and used multicut of 2 for the mask base. The holes for the brads to apply elastic are included in the cut file.

You will want to completely embellish your mask before adhering to the chipboard base. I found it just makes it easier to work with and if you have any stitching it will be hidden by the chipboard base.

I used clear beads and wire to make the antenna. I hand stitched pearls to the top of the mask and let them hang down. I added ribbon to the sides of the mask. I also cut a butterfly from the purple mat out of cheap white cardstock and then cut off the wings so I could have a body. I put the body through my Xyron and then sprinkled with glitter. I also spritzed glimmer mist on the mask before I started embellishing. I super glued the rhinestones around the eye holes.

As they say the proof is in the pudding! The mask will fit a face! And like I said, at least my face! LOL

Sweet Treats Cart....I LOVE IT!

A dear friend of mine had acquired two Sweet Treats cartridges and she was kind enough to send me one. I haven't had time to try it out until tonight. I have looked through the book several times and loved all the cuts.

For the first card I made I decided to use the double dip ice cream cone and make the DOUBLE DIP BIRTHDAY card. The cut file is set to cut 4 cards at a time. I used several different Cuttlebug folders. For the cone I used Tiny Mosaic, the chocolate dip is D'Vine Swirls and the Strawberry dip is Tiny Bubbles.

I added stickles to the strawberry on top of the cone. The doodling is done with a white Signo UM-153 gel pen, and Chocolate Chip and Real Red Stampin Up markers.

I can't wait to make some more cuts with this cartridge!

Cards from my Stampin Up party +1

I wanted to share the cards I made at my Stampin Up party on Saturday and I am just now getting around to posting them. The card on the left and middle are the ones we made at the party. I loved them so much I used the one on the left as a pattern to do some more along the same lines. I really like being able to use my Stampin Up markers to double color stamps! Since I make 4-6 cards it was a bit time consuming to color the stamp 18 times, but I think it was worth it!

I do like the simplicity of the card in the middle. The only stamping is the sentiment. I think it is a good way to show off some pretty patterned paper and also being able to use scraps since it is a small area that is covered.

I am here!!

I have been busy with some life things and haven't gotten to do much crafting in the last week. I also worked on some organization stuff this week. I finally got my totes on a shelf and my pegboard added to the end. Once I get it all organized and filled up I will take some pictures of it. I was able to find a wire shelf that fit perfect in the space I had.

I am having a Stampin Up party today so I will probably be adding pictures later of what I make there.

The card on the left has the butterflies and sentiment stamped on it, I can't remember the stamp set right off hand. I used the apron border punch and then added a few Robin Nest embellies.

The card in the middle is a Stampin Up stamp for the sentiment and then simply has some ribbon and Robin's Nest embellies.

The card on the right has a computer generated sentiment that says "Friendship Knows No Lime-Its" *okie just impresses herself sometimes with her sheer genius on being able to come up with the corniest sentiments*. The lime slice is from the Stampin Up Tart and Tangy set. My friend Linda stamped some of the images off for me and since I have used them all now I guess I am going to have to order that set!

WHEW! Now that is done I can start on another project....oh yeah my daughters mailbox!! SHEESH! *okie gives herself a V-8 smack on the forehead* I better get busy!

Another night at Stamp Club...and some more note cards!

Tonight was Stamp Club and Linda and I had a blast as usual! We had to drop my car off at the shop so it can get a tune up in the morning then ran by Staples, where we left totally empty handed. We decided on Chinese food for dinner and ate way too much but it was way too good! We also made a quick trip to the LSS where we both picked up some Bazzill Swiss Dot and some regular 12x12 cardstock. Then it was off to the public library for Stamp Club!

I was able to get two more designs done while at Stamp club. The one on the left I did at home and forgot to post the other night. The sunflower and cherry one are the ones I did at stamp club. The sentiment on the sunflower is computer generated and the cherry stamp and sentiment is a Stampendous set that I absolutely love! Of course I think we have already confirmed that I have a thing for cherries. All 3 cards were done with scraps again. I did use the Stampin Up word window punch on the left and right cards. The border punches are Martha Stewart. Don't forget to click the picture if you want to make it bigger to see more detail.

Somehow during the night I committed to hosting a Stampin Up party! ACCKK! I have never hosted one before so this should be new. Oddly enough everyone there seemed to know there would be NO home cooked food provided *okie wonders how everyone seems to know that she doesn't cook*. So wish me luck at my first time hosting! My party will be February 13th and hopefully I will have a big enough party to get a level 1 hostess gift!

Cuttlebug Challenge - Love You Sweetheart

Hey everyone! It is time for the Cuttlebug Challenge project! Don't forget to visit Cuttlebug Challenge and check out the projects from my fellow designers. Also make sure you leave a comment so you can be entered to win the prize this month, which is...Designer's Calendar Cricut Cartridge!

For the project our challenge was to use hearts from at least 3 different cartridges and I thought I would go with a two page layout. I really loved the words that I found in Lyrical Letters "Love You" "Sweetheart" when I was searching for hearts and made that the basis of my layout.

A friend of mine was nice enough to send me some pictures that I could use with this layout, of course she does get the layout now that it is finished!

The patterned paper is K & Company from the Masion paper pack. The pink is Coredinations White Wash and the black is Coredinations Black Magic. I used Stardream Mica for the hearts to add a little subtle bling. Since the paper is a bit vintage looking I used the tan lens on my photo program to tone down the color of the pictures.

The cartridges I used were
Swirly heart - Hannah Montana
Double heart - Wedding
Winged heart - Hello Kitty
Scallop border - Plantin Schoolbook
Title - Lyrical Letters

I used several different Cuttlebug folders also. I used Victoria on the Black Magic paper, Swiss Dots on the swirly heart and Script on the winged heart.















Here are close up pictures of the hearts. When cutting the hearts I did use the multi-cut of 2 since the Mica is thicker than regular cardstock. It cut the swirls perfectly using this setting. To split the double heart I simple adhered it to the send page and the cut along the edge of the page. I layed the pages next to each other to line it up and put the other half on the first page.









Here you can see the details a little better on other parts of the layout. I added flat back pearls to the scallop border and a few to the words on the title. The ribbon is a metallic sheer light lavendar and I tied a small heart charm on the ribbon on the second page. I used a paper piercer to make the faux stitching on the photo mats.

Here are another 3 note cards!

I got some more note cards finished up tonight and thought I would get them posted before going to bed. That makes a total of 36 note cards I have made in the last few nights! *okie does a "yeah me" dance*. Only 36 more to go and I will have 6 sets of 12 to give as gifts! I am still using my scraps for these so it's almost like I am making them for free huh!? LOL

I used stamps for the card on the left and the middle. The card on the right is a computer generated sentiment. I think the one on the left ended up lookin like a note book LOL. I really love the little confetti flowers for cards. The middle card has a 2" scallop circle and the one on the right is a Stampin Up Scallop circle and I think it is probably about 1.75". On right hand side card I did give the top piece of paper a spritz of bronze Glimmer mist and it shows up better if you click the picture and make it bigger. Oh and I did Cuttlebug again on two of the cards.

I keep making these and it is getting to where I think they all look the same! *okie pouts* I don't want them looking the same! I think part of the problem is that with the scraps for me to get the maximum cuts I end up cutting the papers at almost the same sizes. Maybe I can change that on my next sets I make. I am planning on using my Cricut on those!

I love notecards!!

There is something about making note cards that I just love! I think it is because I can use up scraps and they seem to go so fast. I got these 3 made in the last two nights. I did make six of each. I will probably make sets of 12 again for gifts since people seem to really like them.

Since I used scraps I am not even sure what paper I used on these.

The card on the left has Michaels wedding confetti flowers and the sentiment is Studio G's and the tag is Stampin Up punches. The midle card is a Stampology layer stamp and the butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. The card on the right is also a Studio G sentiment. I hand cut around the sentiment stamp and also the layer. The little red flowers are Fiskars ZingZ.

Well off to try and make a few more before LOST comes on tonight!

A layout...FINALLY!

I had posted pieces of this layout on the Cricut MB to see if people thought it was too much. Some said yes and most said no. I was just curious how people felt about busy layouts and was gonna do it my way anyway *okie is much like the late great Frank Sinatra* and put all the cuts on there. I would like to tell you all the carts I used, but I honestly don't remember! LOL

The patterned paper is Basic Grey Mellow Collection. The dark green worded paper is something my friend Linda had given me. This was the first time I had actually cut paper dolls...OMG THEY ARE SO STINKIN CUTE!! Now I wonder why I haven't done more! I also used EK Success punches for the maple leaves.

Flutterby...

I recently acquired the Hannah Montana cart and just love some of the swirly cuts on this cart. I kept looking at the designs on it and decided I needed to make something with this butterfly so could at least try the cart out.

The sentiment is computer generated. The carts I used were:
Butterfly - Hannah Montana
Bookplate - Fabulous Finds
Flowers - Home Accents

I used Stardream Mica for the butterfly swirls and the flowers. The photo corners are an EK Success punch I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

I "Cherrish" you & me

When Linda and I went to the Swarm we found the cutest stamp there that had cherries on it and said "Cherrish"...OF COURSE WE HAD TO BUY IT! I still don't know why I am cherry crazy but they are just too stinking cute!

Anyway I started this card last night and didn't get to finish since I went to the movies. I went to see Legion and it was really good! But back to the card...I did get to finish it today.

The stamp is a Snag Em stamp and was only $1. The cherry paper is October Afternoon and the polka dot is Bo Bunny. I used a paper piercer to make the stitching look. I have tried the paper piercer before and I kept poking all the way through but I finally got it right! I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the lacy look. The squiggle on the polka dot paper is a Cuttlebug border folder.

The font is Don Juan. The scallop oval is with Alphalicous, but I had to tweak it to fit the stamp.

The ribbon is banana grosgrain and matches better in real life than it does in the picture. I also put the ribbon through the button.

Here is a close up where you can see that I pop dotted the words and scallop oval. I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the words and also used a Stampin Up marker to add stitching on the lettering also. I did use the Signo white gel pen for the zig zag stitching look on the cherry paper.

I guess in my world...life really is a bowl of cherries! HA HA HA

Love card using Heritage

Therese from Paper Patch Crafts posted a card sketch on Facebook tonight and I decided to make a card from her sketch. I wanted to use my new Hannah Montana cart but couldn't find anything that was tickling my fancy *okie loves her fancy tickled* so I started looking at cuts from the Heritage cart.

It is a pretty simple card and didn't take long to make. I used K & Company for the papers, Mica for the elements and some ribbon and Robin's Nest embellies for some little extra pizzazz. I think the card turned out pretty good. The word LOVE might have looked better in black, it is a bit subtle in the gold but sometimes the best love is subtle love don't you think?
