Let me tell ya about blogging.....

It ain't easy! It is hard work sometimes. Posts have to be written and pictures have to be edited. And if you do a video that can take a few hours sometimes to get ready to post on a blog. I totally enjoy having my blog and having people comment. But it bothers me to think people on messageboards are upset because I posted about something on my blog on a messageboard, or posted about I am having a giveaway *which okie usually doesn't, she prefers her regular readers win* because they see it as solicitation. I started this blog because of my Cricut and wanting people to be able to download my cut file easily. I thought people were pleased about that. But how are they suppose to know I have a new cut file if I don't tell them?

I am not an over promoter. I don't go posting "I have a neat project to show you! Go to my blog to see" or "I have a new idea I want to share, go to my blog to see". I always post a picture or something and say you can read more on my blog if you would like.

So to those who feel like I am offending you by posting on a messageboard that I made a new project or a tutorial, etc....*okie doesn't finish sentence and instead just walks off*

  1. Okie... I love your blog and sometimes, if I don't see it posted on the MB, I forget to visit due to being so busy. I'll do better and stop by more often to see you and enjoy your talent. I so appreciate all you do!!!

  2. I read your blog, and I think it's stupid that people are all that concerned about it. Really, so you don't want to post it all over everything. You have friends throughout the crafting community and keep most of your stuff in one spot. Poop on the grumps who are cranky. :-) I like your blog and you can post whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Screw the grumps! It's your blog and you can do whatever you want! I totally agree with you on self-promoters. I tend to skip those. Anyways, I love your humor and your blog. Keep doing what you do!

  4. Don't let people bother you, Okie. Some people over there can get so catty about stuff. If you don't post that you have new projects on the MB, how are you supposed to get more followers? Isn't that the point of blogging? To share your talent with as many other crafters as humanly possible? I think some people are just not happy unless they are crabbin' about something. Some people thrive on it I guess. Don't let 'em getcha down. It's still a free country, you post what you want and if they don't want to read it, then they should just pass over your MB post. Sounds simple enough to me! Keep up the great work, Okie. We love it! :)

  5. I agree with you 100%. I too set up my blog to help others, mainly my friends and family. I have too have given gifts but don't ask anyone to be a follower to do so. When I post on the MB I also place a photo so if people want more info they can come and see if not God bless. I feel it a priviledge to be able to share how to do something and pass along what others have taught me. Shirley I consider it a privlidge to come and learn from you and hope that you continue to share your talent with us all. Thanks for the hard work. PS I just did my first couple of videos and boy do I understand the work that involves!!! We love ya, so don't let the grumpy peeps stop you or discourage you.

  6. Boy, the anonymity of the web can bring out such pissy behavior. "Upset"? I'd say it's probably some jealousy over your excellent blog, willingness to share, and total hilarity. Many thanks for all your hard work.

  7. Ditto! I love to see what bloggers are doing and how do I know...because they post it on the MB. Well I have you on my blog roll, too, but many I would never know about if they didn't post it. You are always good about posting pics in your post, too and that's a good thing! : )

  10. I love reading your blog and I for one don't mind seeing you post about a file on the message board.

Some people just need to get a life. I love reading your posts both on the message board and here. If those people don't like it, tough, they don't own the MB.

  11. Keep doing what you do for those of us that love you & what you do. Those that don't like it can ignore! And you can ignore them!!!!
    You are appreciated Okie,

  16. Okie, don't take all of those comments personally. I absolutely LOVE your blog (and your sense of humor). I am a loyal follower, have subscribed to your updates, and (I have to admit) on occasion have scraplifted an idea or two. It is because of people like you that the rest of us who aren't as creative can look at your crafting superiorness and learn to create items similar to the “Wonderful Okie”. Thanks for all you do!!!

  17. Okie I read your blog at least 3 times a week .... Usually it's more like every day ... I love all the projects and tutorials you do .. I appreciate the time and effort you put into keeping up this blog and the cut files you offer.... I love coming here because I can just enjoy your projects and not have to deal with all the drama that normally follows a MB .... That being said, I do visit a couple of MB's and I do like seeing new projects and if someone posts on a MB about a project they did with pics and instructions on their blog, I'll hop right on over there ...I really don't get why it's such a big deal for some people ...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well you're on my list of favorites and I check your blog several times a week. Hope you keep on posting and thanks for all your generous offers of cut files. By the way, stop by my blog for my latest post. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  19. I too saw the comments they wrote....and I guess the Honeymoon is over! LOL I don't care were you post...I usually put a picture up too and tell them to head to my blog.... but I stopped telling them to come over....just posting what I make.... It's sad that everyone has to complain about the silly things in life... I love coming to your blog because you are very talented and I enjoy seeing the creative things you make... so I say screw them! Post where ever you want! I'm a follower and always will be! :) And I do appreciate all you do for the Design studio files! They are soooo helpful! Thanks for ALL you do Okie! :)

  22. It must be something in the air, or either its one person that is going around to several blogs that I visit and is causing a ruckus. Several bloggers have had issues with someone not happy about the way they are running their blogs. I say "It's you blog and you run it, post it, talk about it, advertise it, whatever you feel like doing" Some people just ain't happy no matter what you do.
    Enjoy yourself!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. WOW, how sad that people are commenting on you posting whatever on wherever!!! none of their business, and so what if you were promoting it!!! what is it to them?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okie, I love your blog. Please don't let trolls spoil your day. You always make me smile :)

  25. the mb is getting harder to visit with such drama unfolding about the smallest issues!!! i go there for inspiration and visit blogs for more details or videos of techniques. i craft "in a vacuum", no one around me does any papercrafting so for tips and techniques i look to the mb. i appreciate if someone has a giveaway, if they do post it on the mb as in canada we do not have easy access to many products, so giveaways are one way of getting something different or something i can donate to my school for our students are all special needs and budget is tight> i especially follow your blog for the talent and the humour!!! thanks for being the person you are so generous with your time, talent and cutfiles!

  26. WTF? People love to whine don't they. Maybe you can give away some real "wine" for them to consume!

    ReplyDelete
  27. That is just silly of them! I check your blog every day cause I love it (and you) and then I go to the Cricut and Circle message boards. You have NEVER posted anything on one of those message boards that is soliciting! If they can't deal with it they can just . . . . OK OK I see why you just walked off shaking your head! You keep up the good work and post whatever you want to wherever you want to and they can just deal with it . . . . OK OK there I go again . . . I'm walking off now . . .

  28. Okie don't let the negative people get to you...there are way more people who love you and what you do, focus on them and forget the rest.

  35. Okie, sorry that people are being a pain in the rear on the MB's. I love the fact that you share what you are working on, on the MB's and let us "research" more we can head over hear. Your posts are always a kick, and your projects unique and creative. Sorry some just can not distinguish between those out to sell you on everything; and those, like you, who just get excited and want to share. I think some people just get up on the wrong side of the bed EVERY day.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey okie - don't worry about those who get bugs stuck where the sun don't shine - you're great - and you do amazing things - your posts are always helpful and perfect...so just ignore those little buggy pests!
    You know I love ya!

  37. My advice to you (not that you asked for any) is to continue to do you. For every one that is a hater, you have a gazillion more who love what you do. I am one of the gazillion. You are appreciated. [

  38. Amen, sister. I completely agree. Our blogs are for us to share our passions and our creativity because we WANT to and it is a lot of work. Keep up your great work. We are interested.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Here's what I think! You have 1169 "Followers" and you have had 554,229 visits to your blog.
Unless 1000 people on the Message Boards are upset, I don't think you have anything to worry about!
There are almost 1200 of us that ARE interested in reading what you have to say! Don't sweat the small stuff (and the small minds)... and how can it be considered "Soliciting" if you're not SELLING something.... last time I checked, people only got arrested for "Solicitation" when they were SELLING something not for GIVING IT AWAY! Imagine how freebie night would look on the Hooker Highway if they all decided to do "Giveaways"! (-:

    ReplyDelete
  40. Okie, I usually stop by your blog before going to the MB. I say post whatever you want. I like the blogs way more than the message boards because on the blogs you can browse and learn and not get caught up in the drama. I'm too old for that and life is too short. I leave the MB for last and by then I'm tired so I don't read much and I'm really not interested in their fights. Keep up your good work and keep the inspiration going.

  41. Time for our "silent majority" to speak up - keep doing what you have been. I certainly am capable of deciding whether to follow a link from a MB or keep reading there. I appreciate the extras that your blog can provide and thank you for doing so. Plus all the wonderful ideas you gracefully share.

  42. People will always find a reason to complain. I have no problem with promoting! :) And I love seeing your stuff!

  43. I love your blog!!!! I am sorry to hear all of this and really appreciate you sharing your awesome creativity with others!!! There are always going to be "bad apples" but please don't let that bother you as you know that you have LOTS of followers that enjoy "YOU"!!!!! :o)

  44. Amen!!!!! You said it well!! I thought we all started our blogs to share. I really enjoy looking at others blogs. You can't post everything on a messageboard. I love visiting with you here and will continue to do so. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us. :)

  60. What is the message board for? I go there lots of times to find inspiration and to learn tips and tricks. I think someone with your talent that is willing to share with others is wonderful. I have been only following you for a short time and are so thankful I found you. You give me inspiration for my cards and LO.
I looked up soliciation on Wikipedia this is what it says,
" In the United States the term "solicitation" is the name of a crime( better watch out fot the MB police")an inchoate offeense that consist of a person offering money or something else of value
( yes you blog is somthing of value)in order to incite or induce ( watch out for the blog police )another to commit a crime with the specific intent that the person solicited commit the crime." The only crime I see here is that people are trying to stop you from sharing your talent with others. Please dont let them get you down.

We (most of us) look forward to new posts. Hugs to you!

Some people need to learn how to keep it to themselves and move on. I think they like the attention they get by starting a thread and having so many comment. I will post a picture of my project and a few details and then tell people if they want to learn more visit my blog. I see nothing wrong with that and will continue to do it that way

  72. Okie,
There are so many of us that appreciate what you do. Unfortunately there are those that complain no matter what. If someone were to do to them what they seem to do so easily to others they would have an absolute fit. Please know there are so many of us that truly appreciate all the hard work and efforts that go into your blogs. There's a saying, "don't sweat the small stuff" and those that complain are the "small stuff".
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do, it's people like you that help keep me motivated. Thank you, Thank You and THANK YOU!!!!! :)

  73. Okie,
I read your blog every day, just cuz you're so creative (and funny!) I don't have DS (or a Gypsy, for that matter), so I can't even use the cut files that you so generously offer, but I visit your site anyway, because it's so wonderful! And I certainly see nothing wrong in you posting on a messageboard that you have a new project or tutorial. You go, girl!

  75. Hi Okie!!!

I just discovered your blog last week!!! I have already gained so much inspiration from you!!! I am a SAHM of three and 2 are special needs and I am not able to go out and cultivate friendships or have the time to enjoy my hobby/addiction outside of my tiny home. I RELY on being directed to different peoples blogs for teaching/learning and/or inspiration. Most of the time it is a BINGO for me but every now and then the blogger is not my style and that is ok...I just go on to the next blogger brave enough to "advertise" their blog and BINGO for me. I have learned SO MUCH from you and other like you...Keep it up and thanks a million for the inspiration.
    Blessings,

    Valerie

  76. I read your blog every day, though I don't even have DS or a Gypsy, just because you are so talented (and funny!) I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with posting on the messageboard that you made a new project or tutorial. There are just always going to be people who are not happy unless they're trying to make other people unhappy! Personally, I think it is terrific that you offer so much - for free! - and I hope that the drama on the MB won't keep you from making your generous gifts of your cut files (which, like I already said, I can't even use because I don't have DS or a Gypsy.....)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Okie I love your blog. I skip over alot of the threads on the MB, but if I see your name I always click on it to see what your up to. I visit here everyday.
I noticed one of the complaints was "I check the MB at work and can't go to the blogs!" Well, where I come from that amounts to stealing. Your getting paid to work, not surf the internet! Where I worked it was policy that you would lose your job if caught on the web. And 2 gals did get fired for just that. We were not allowed to surf even on our lunch unless we had our own laptop with us. But I degress.
Keep up what your doing and if the cry babies don't like it tough!

Some people are not happy unless they are making someone else miserable.

  78. I subscribe to your blog - you are awesome and as so many others have said on this post - who cares what they say on the message board - so childish! I love reading you blog and love the inspiration your provide out of the very goodness of your heart (here's where I insert a heart but I don't know how!!)

    ReplyDelete
  79. I just went through ten minutes of hell trying to reset my password for Google so I could make a comment. I normally wouldn't bother but I'm so p*ssed at reading that people are being so childish. I haven't been to the cricut MB on a regular basis for months now, mainly because of it not working properly and them not doing proper maintenance to fix it. I do however stalk your blog because it's chock full of ideas and inspiration.

I'd like to apologize for all the dim witted moaners and groaners out there, who unfortunately for us own computers.

Now I'M the one who's going to walk off.....

    (love you, Okie)

  80. I love what you do, Okie. I read you everyday. Don't let others spoil your fun. Keep up the great work. I look forward to reading what you have to say and seeing what you have created.

  81. Unbelievable! I had no idea people were upset with you. It's totally ridiculous!!!!!! I love your blog, you keep me laughing & I love your work! It's so very nice of you to share your work. I posted a message a while back that I needed a box AND you were so nice and so quick to help me and I thank you soo much! These people obviously don't have anything better to do with their time!

    ReplyDelete
  82. You shouldn't worry about it. Some people will complain about anything. The way you do it is right.

As the old song says. "You see ya can't please everyone, so ya gotta please yourself."

    ReplyDelete
  83. Okie, I love your blog. Do what you want and tell the PITAs to kiss off! If what you do is their biggest complaint in life then they need more problems!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I have to agree with you Okie! It's a lot of work to put up video, pics AND Oh My! love my camera but, the pics are so big! with the new MB you need to upload the picture from your blog or other server, oh and if you add a watermark that's more. Then, to resize it wow! The mb is so slow and my big pics won't upload. I sure try to resize them but, chasing day to day responsibilities it is a slap when you do all of that, post a pic and wow! Negative Nellies just SLAP you down! It's fine if they ddb (don't do blogs) but, it doesn't cost anything to say thank you or if they liked it to say so. I'm not getting paid to share and my give aways are self-funded. I don't have any donations funding my creative energies. I just share my projects and I have even been trying to post something everyday. Perhaps, even a weekly post or a monthly post would be a better speed rather than trying to do something everyday. Plus, my video is not a flip but, is high quality and gets edited. :thank you darling husband...you ROCK!: It sure makes it hard to put yourself out there to share. I hope that people like what I do and subscribe as a follower or to email. I don't get paid by that but, it sure is nice to see that someone cares enough to visit and leave a kind word or two. It's also nice if they have any Stampin' Up! needs, that they go to my store. I spend a lot of money on what I show on my blog which my darling husband can attest to! lol All I ask for is some kindness and appreciation for the hard work that goes into sharing with others. I appreciate all the bloggers who like me are out there sharing of themselves. Thank you Okie and keep on keeping on!

  86. I say dont worry about those people! If they didnt gripe about our blogs, they would find something else to gripe about anyway. I love your blog and the projects that you so generously share with us. I have a big list of blogs that I follow and yours is one of my very favorites!

  87. Some people are only happy when they are unhappy. Don't worry about the complainers. When they are tired of complaining about you, they will find something else. Thanks for all you do.

  88. Im not sure what post everyone's so fired up about. You always post a picture and if I want to see more I come to your blog. End of story. Dont sweat the small stuff, life has so many wonderful and interesting people and things to see and do.

Im guessing that the complaint was about those who dont post a pic and say come visit my blog?

  89. I have been off work sick since March. Your blog and postings on Facebook have helped me so much. This illness has taught me to have gratitude for the smallest things. I now have no tolerance for crabby people. We have way too many of them in this world. They can hit the delete button just like everyone else. I hit the delete button when I see their crabby posts.

  90. There are enough of us who love your blog and think you are adorable! It's my suggestion that you hit the "delete" button on those who don't. In fact, don't even read the whole thing...just hit delete. :o/

And when someone gets all worked up on the mb, I move on 'cause I don't have the time to waste! You are so generous in your sharing both here and on mb. Please don't stop! DoriG

  93. I love your blog and I appreciate it when you (and others) post on the MB to let me know you/they have something special to show. I have the option to look or not look. Please don't let a few people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain, ruin it for everyone.

    Please continue to post!

  94. You never can please everyone. Forget about them. If they don't like what you do they don't have to check your blog. We love you!

  95. Okie-- walk away from the keyboard and forget the people who just like to bi*ch for no reason. You are a wonderful blogger and I visit at least 4-5 times a week. I love your work, attitude, and "voice."
    Thanks for your hard work!
Enjoy the move with your daughter-- I'll be swimming in my tears next year after I stop cheering that they're all moving out. :)

  97. Listen, okie - you want me to finish the sentence for you?? :o) I just found your blog thru the CC MB. I appreciate the links to everyone's blogs, and appreciate you mentioning what's up there. I don't think PC would have a problem w/that since they let you put your blog link on the MB. Don't let one person get to ya -- we appreciate everything you do. Once I figure out what a darn cut file is, I'll try 'em. (Sheez...I'm so technologically illiterate it's pathetic!)
