Double Walled Tumblers and Vinyl

I have been searching for some clear double wall tumblers to alter but with my cheap azz this is not an easy feat! I thought I was going to have to order some but luckily when I was at Michaels last weekend with my friend Linda, aka LGuild, she came across some and came over to get me. They had 5 of the clear.....and I bought 5! I think the price was $6.99 but we had coupons for 30% off your total regular price purchase.

SUPPLIES USED:
Cricut - Expressions; Feeling Groovy, Hoot N' Holler, Walk In My Garden
Avery - Outdoor Grade Vinyl
Transfer tape
12 oz double wall tumbler with lid and straw

My friend Wendi, aka Firewife, gave me a bunch of vinyl scraps. She has a friend that owns the local sign shop and she gets scraps from them and is gracious enough to share with me! *okie is so lucky to have such fabulous friends* I have this same brand of vinyl on my car that I made a decal from almost 3 years ago. It is still on the car but has faded due to the sun so I figure the vinyl on the cups should last fairly well.

It is very hard to take decent pictures of something clear! I took several shots hoping to show you guys how cute these cups turned out. I made two, one for my daughter and one for my eldest God Daughter. They absolutely loved them! My God Daughter was having a bit of a stressful day and I sent her a text and asked her "do you need some God Mommy cheer up" and told her I had something for. I was in the bathroom *okie wonders if that is TMI and decides everyone has to go to the bathroom so people should understand* when she came in and I heard her squeal. She told me "This so makes up for the rest of my day!"

You can click the pictures to make them bigger if you would like to see better details.

I am not sure if I want to find more of these cups because I know if I do I will be addicted to putting vinyl on them!

  8. OMG Okie!!! I love these!!! Is layering vinyl hard?? There is so many things I would like to do with vinyl but always figured the layering part would be super duper hard. Great job!! Oh and by the way not TMI on the potty break. I have chrons disease! I could really share some war stories with ya hahahahaha (ok NOW that might be TMI you think!) Hugs, Leanne

  9. Super cute! I just picked up one of these cups at Kohl's (on sale of course). Maybe I should personalize it with some vinyl. Thanks!

  10. Leanne the layering isn't really hard since I don't do anything really big. I used some transfer tape to do the layers so I could like them up better. I did the lettering by hand by just holding the top layer with tweezerbees and then positioning and applying.

  11. Nice 'hooters' LOL! Okay, not sure why that popped into my head when I saw these but since I know you have a sense of humor, thought I'd fly with it. Great job on the vinyl. Transfer tape is the key then? I need to grab some of that for my next go.

  14. Love these cups ... they turned out so adorable with their bright and vibrant colors (great layering on these ... that gives them an extra special look).

Just curious ... were you able to put the vinyl between the walls of the glasses? Looking at the up close image, it looks like they are on the outside ... and if they are on the outside, I was just wondering how they will stand up to lots of use and washing. But then, if this same vinyl has been on your car for 3 years or more, these should hold up pretty well too, right?

    Carol

  18. These turned out super cool Okie! I have a tumbler I got at wally World a few months back... has blue and green spots on it.... I'm planning on dressing it up a bit for my monthly crops.... I got it because one of my friends accidently spilled my coke all over my cards... She damaged 4 of my cards I was making that night... but it was enough to make me find something to fix the spilling issue... Haven't had any accidents since! :O)

  21. Do you place the vinyl on the outside of the tumbler? Will it wash ok?

    1. The vinyl does go on the outside. I use outdoor grade vinyl and tell people to make sure to handwash.
