I Do NOT Handle Rejection Well....

So there is a big contest going on right now and the prize is a new Expressions E2. The winner will be announced April 26th on HSN on the big launch of the new machine.

I want to enter but I can't stand rejection. I even made a project for the contest and sent pictures to a few friends. I told them I thought my project would quickly get tossed to the side because it isn't bright and cheery and child themed. One of my friends replied that she didn't think they would even consider my project. I figure I will just save my postage and not send my entry. I don't even know what to do with the dang thang now!

I am never going to get the idea of entering anything ever again!!!

  1. Was there a theme??

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    Send it in!

  2. The only way i EVER see your projects getting rejected is MAYBE it isn't the theme they want, do you have time to do another. You do beautiful work and you know it! Go for it, I would love to see you win the E2

  4. I too have an issue with rejection but I also know that you do a fantastic job on everything you try. I am wondering if you actually understood your friend correctly or if you were reading more into her comments.

If you don't try, you will never win. I say send it in. Maybe everyone else will do chldlike creations and you will be the one with the elegant wonderful creation.

  5. Go for it and DON'T give up. To use your term, some people just don't know good "chit".

  6. Well it's a good thing I read your post today, because I had also tossed around the idea, but I had not intended to do bright, cheery or childlike either, so if anything else is likely to be tossed I might as well save my paper.

  7. Okie, you should at least try! All your work is fabulous :)

  8. Enter...you can't win if you don't enter!!

  9. Well I think you should put your entry up here on your blog and let us (WE are your friends too) see what we think you should do! Nothing you have ever made is "unworthy" of winning and I bet this is a wonderful project. (And believe me, none of us handle rejection well, no matter what face we put on it when it happens!)

  10. Hey, Okie! I have been a lurker for ages. When I saw your post on ending your blog, I had to talk to some friends because it would just be too much! Your blog is part of my morning ritual before I get my work day started. It's much needed as I work for the government! Anyhoo, send in your submission! You have a very good chance of winning. You are one of the few people who uses the Cricut and other provocraft products to their full ability. I think your project would highlight the product beautifully. If it doesn't win, it doesn't win. You won't be the only one. (Joy shrugs shoulders with an eye-roll)

  11. I know what you mean Okie! I hate rejection also! I've got three layouts made to send in and I know I don't stand a chance in hell to win but I guess I'm mailing them anyway like you I don't know what I'd do with them if I didn't hee hee! Soooo send yours in and if we both don't win we can bitch together hahahahaha!! Hugs, Leanne

  12. What this from the lady that just came back from a curse! Just send it in. This is what I tell myself with all the blog candy I don't win. Oh well they must have needed it more. Then a few not so nice words. Then off to something that makes me happy.
    SEND it IN.

  13. Just send it in Okie, I am sure it is fabulous. Just think of it as buying a 44 cent raffle ticket for a great prize.

  14. I can not imagine a friend telling you that they wouldn't even consider your project. How does she know?
If you made it already, send it in. Come on Okie, be brave, take a chance.
You definately won't win if you don't put your entry in.

  15. So who said they wouldn't even consider it? That wasn't very nice! If you can handle the things your friends say to you, why the h*ll do you think you can't handle rejection???? LOL!

  18. You seem to be a winner from what I've seen. I know you won the cruise, the expression for your school and who knows what else. Go for the prize and enter. No on second thought don't enter and let them give it to my sister. She needs it! Her baby cricut is on it's last leg and she is in her 70s and living on a tiny fixed income. She got the baby when they handed out tax rebate checks a few years ago. She still likes to scrapbook.

  25. I'm in the same position as you are. I have no little ones any longer so my layouts are more adult. I think you should go for it-there are a lot of us out there that would appreciate seeing it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have an idea in my head that I would like to make up and send in, but I don't think it's going to measure up to what more talented people will send in. I don't handle rejection well, either. However, you really don't know if you don't try.

  36. Agree with Diane, you need a smack to the head! And a good ole wallop to your so called friend that talked you out of entering. You're work is awesome and definitely prize worthy. None of us know what the judges will be looking for. I know one thing, if you don't enter, I stand a better chance!

  37. Listen heree Ms Okie!!! If you were talking to one of your patients, you would be saying something positive and telling them to give it the "good old Okie Try"!! So put your big girl panties on and mail that sucker!! We love you, winner or not!! And besides, knowing you, you'll be HAPPY for the person that wins (if it isn't you!)Suz

  40. Okie needs to say to herself... Is that the advice you would give someone else ! Enter it !

    ReplyDelete
  41. Not to sound cliche, but if I can do it, you can do it. Seriously, I won an expression one time in a contest. Yes, me.

I think your layouts are great, so you ought to at least try. Even if they aren't looking for the type of layout you did, maybe you'll wow them & they'll create another prize category for you. As the Ohio Lottery says, "You can't win if you don't play."

    ReplyDelete
  42. Got to be in it to win it..... Just send it in! Their loss if they don't choose your entry anyway. And are they really gonna write and say "Thanks for entering but you shouldn't have bothered"? LOL Your creations are awesome; don't let anyone tell you any different. WE LUBS YOU, OKIE... :-D Jude.x

  43. hmmmm... just wondering what you would say to Shiane if she wrote such a post. You have been such an amazing example and inspiration to so many ladies out in cyberspace, not to mention your own daughter. I have a hard time reconciling the strong, independent, amazing lady with a fun and spunky attitude with this post. GO FOR IT!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree put your big girl panties on and enter the contest!!! We all love you for who you are and if they dont chose you hold your head high because your fans think the world of you and you are a winner in our eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  45. If you have your mind set on not submitting, it's okay...I'd love to see your creation!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Send it in!!! You don't know until you try. You do great work!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is your friend one of the judges? I didn't think so!! SOOOO....Take your "bee-hind" to the post office and mail it! You will never know. I am to entering the contest also (I probably won't win) but I won't find out unless I do it! I am working on mine this weekend. And then I AM going to start posting things on my blog....I have been SUPER scared to do that...but entering the contest is going to make it easier for me. I also learned today that I can NOT worry about what other people think. I can ONLY worry about me, myself and I!! I hope you enter! GOOD LUCK!!

  48. Does this socalled friend scrap as well. Maybe she is afraid you will keep her from winning. Your projects are always nice. Go ahead and enter. Somebody has to win and it just might be you.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think you're pulling a joke Miss Okie! If you aren't you had better put some postage on that thing and get it in the mail! You do amazing work & with your luck you'll win!!!
Oh and get rid of that friend!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. SERIOUSLY?!? Your "friend" told you that? wow! Well, I haven't seen your project, but I can tell you I have been following your blog for quite awhile and I have yet to see anything I haven't liked. You do beautiful work. I say SEND IT IN!! You can't win if you don't send it in. And if you don't win - c'est la vie. There's always next time. If they reject you, it's their loss, and we will all still be here waiting for you to create fabulous things that we love -- NO rejection!!

WELL?? What are you waiting for??? Go mail it in.

    NOW!!

  51. I always love your work. My husband insists I must send my layouts in. But I said since I know Okie will send her's in (as you should OF COURSE !) that will only be 4 others chosen and I don't stand a chance. But he says I must I guess I can't really stand to say I lost unless I try. I guess this is one time when the same thing could apply both to "Okie" and I. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Gosh Okie, I've never seen anything of your's that wasn't very creative.

Throw your hesitations to the wind and submit the dang thing ... your chances of winning are just as good as anyone else's. Think of it as a drawing ... sometimes you win, and sometimes you don't ... but if you don't enter, then you don't stand a chance!

Have faith! GO FOR IT ... YOU CAN DO IT!!!

    =)

    Carol
