Remember The Elephant? It's Loose!

I am sure ya'll remember my post about the "Elephant In The Crafting World". Well it looks like someone decided to bring that elephant way out into the open and on the loose!!

Someone in my Facebook group posted they saw where a place called Tech Junkee was selling the CD that contains the files and low and behold I had to go there and see myself! BAM! There it was!

273 DIGITAL CRICUT CARTRIDGE SVG ADD-ON PACK

Can you say "OH MY WOW!"

According to the website it includes instructions and can work with other programs besides SCAL.  I am curious to see if Provocraft gets wind of this or if they are allowing this! I can't imagine actually allowing this but at this point who knows. Maybe they decided they would make more money this way.

I have been using Make The Cut exclusively since October and while I have not regretted one time getting rid of my cartridges I will say that I have a tendency to like Cricut images better than most of the SVG's out there simply because I think they are better quality and not always so "cutesy" like most sites have available. If Cricut did allow their new carts to be sold in SVG format I would likely buy one or two if it were something I liked.

So folks, leave a comment and tell me what you think of this situation!

  1. WOW...I would love this as I am loving my Silhouette and so it would be great to narrow it done to one machine and have more desk space

  2. Hey, it would be faster than converting them yourself! LOL! Wonder if this is a trap set by PC to catch folks?

  3. I am with Linda, thinking it could be a trap. I Don't trust Provo Craft.
The same with the linked cartridges, for some reason I am afraid someday PC will disable all the linked carts and the gypsies.
The best thing they could have done was allow MTC.
It would be nice to buy some of their cuts to use.

  4. As you said, the elephant is already in the room ... pretending it's not there won't make any difference. Although I would love to have one of the other cutters and SCAL or MTC, I don't (yet). If I did, and didn't already have nearly 300 carts, I think I know what I would do and it's a decision I would keep to myself ... hey, what happens between a girl and her elephant, is her own business, right! (((*wink*)))!

  5. I'm surprised anyone really cares about this anymore. I think most people have just 'moved on' and are really happy with their new machines (I know I am!)

    1. I am happy with my Cricut and my Pazzles. There are a lot of people who care and would love to get their hands on the CD that contains the files for 273 Cricut cartridges. Maybe you aren't interested but I know a few hundred who are.

  9. 29.99 for 273 cricut carts yea!! I would if I did not have the cricut and carts listed. If you put it on a credit card and its a scam you are protected. I agree linda it is less time consuming to buy this than scan them in myself to convert my favorite cricut images to cut on my cameo

  16. I asked the company and was told that "Sure Cuts A Lot" is no longer being made for use in the Cricut machines...and ProvoCraft has a suit against the software company as well.

    1. All third party software is no longer able to work with the Cricut, that happened sometime ago. Many people still have older versions they didn't update and it works with the Cricut machines. There are people who use other machines with SCAL or MTC and can use SVG files.

  17. Well I bit with the understanding that I could be throwing my money away, but I see from their changed wording that they seem to be wanting to walk on the lawful side. (also I am a bit of a pirate at heart and do not love PC.) So the saying "If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't." continues to hold. Oh well. If the files are similar to cricut carts, and we get 273, that is still pretty cheap for $32 with shipping. That works out to be about $.08 a file.

  21. I bought scal before the lawsuit made them pull it.... Wouldn't cut any other way I have gotten spoiled, now I just need to learn the ins and outs of creating my own files....
