It's The End of an Era

Several times over the years I have thought about not sharing files but I would continue for one reason or another but as of now I will no longer be sharing files and most all links, hundreds of them actually, have been taken down.

I started sharing files back in 2008 when Design Studio was still used and I made files out of nothing but squares, circles, triangles and the letter "j" from George was a life saver. Once I started using Make The Cut the whole making file process was so much easier and user friendly and I would be so excited to share a design I was able to make. I truly enjoyed sharing, but now...it's almost a regret.

I know this might seem rash to stop sharing and taking down the links but after reports of people posting my files in various groups on Facebook or using my files for their own projects to make money I have decided that it is time to end my generosity. Rarely do I get donations for the files I make and many times there are hours and hours of work that go into just one "simple" file. To all those who have been generous and made a donation over the years I truly appreciate you! It has been very frustrating many times when I have had a file downloaded hundreds of times and maybe, maybe 3 people would even say thank you.

I will continue to share my projects here and make blog posts of nonsense that goes on in my head and my life. If I can think of a way to share files to where others are not sharing my work as their own or making money off my generosity I will start sharing again.

If anyone chooses not to come back due to this announcement I completely understand.

  2. I understand! I am constantly amazed that people want others to do the designs so they can profit. In my opinion that is stealing. I still have a Cricut head vinyl decal you designed years ago and sold. I bought two and one went on my car and I saved one. Somebody tore off the antenna on the decal on the car. People have no respect.

  3. I totally understand people are so rude. I think if you want to share you should charge everyone else does. I as a person who doesn't have the know how to make files have no problem paying. If I really want something I pay for it.

  8. Sorry for this. I bought a Silhouette Portrait machine over 18 months ago, and it's never been used. I admit I'm a little scared to try it, I purchased it before my husband died and things have just been all backed up since then, and I'm hearing more and more people are hesitating about sharing files and info and it's frustrating to me that I won't get the chance to learn from them and their mistakes also, because some others are selfish. I can feel your frustration.

  10. So sorry people have abused your generosity. I've never had a clue how to download, much less use one of your files, but I am always in awe of your work. Please keep telling the stories behind the designs and sharing about your family, your crafting space and adventures, and inspiring me to get organized!

  11. Set up a selling site where people have to pay to get the file, I think you would be surprised at the response. Folk have taken advantage of your generosity, I understand your frustration. For heavens sake don't stop blogging!

  14. You do whatever you have to do. It is not right to pass your work off as theirs. You are very talented and those of you that have done this shame on you, you know who you are. Thank you for all that you have shared for these many years and I agree keep posting.

  20. I think this is a great decision. I think you should sell your files if you can, but because you spend so much time making files and tweaking them that they should no longer be free. Your time is worth something and it is up to you to decide what your files are worth. You are good at it, so I would really love to see your files for sale and of course I want to continue to see your beautiful projects, layouts, etc...here on your blog. I do enjoy your blog and get excited when I see your blog name pop into my email telling me that you have a new post up. Love your witty humor and your writing style. So even though I know some will be sad about this news, I am one glad to hear it because I think you deserve to be paid for your files. Thank you for all the files you have shared over the years!!!! I didn't download many of them, but I do download a few and was grateful for you sharing them. Hugs, Brenda

  21. I have been a very long time follower (just rarely comment). While I have never downloaded your files, I have always appreciated everything you have done for the crafting community and always get a laugh from your spunk! If I had files, I too, would take them down if they were being abused. I love your candor and your creativity and I miss you when you take a break. All I can say is You Go Girl! Do what you need to do! Kim (in Texas).

  22. So sorry to hear this but totally understand. You have been more than generous over the years. I always remember a Scooby Do you made is Design Studio and was amazed at how you created it with all those shapes. Most importantly I love reading your blog posts, I may not comment everytime but I do read them and enjoy. Sad that some people just have not morals or respect.
