okie's theory on paper hoarders

Okay know it is late....or early....not sure why I am still up other than I was painting earlier and I am waiting to for it to dry so I can see what it looks like. Also I was worried about my cricut and wanted to make sure it is working okay since it wouldn't cut the mittens I was trying to cut.....and it is, except for the mittens.

Anyway I was sitting here reading the Cricut messageboard and began to theorize why we are paper hoarders!!

Animals work by instinct. They have a sense of when things are going to be rough for the winter, therefore they hoard food. Much like squirrels do nuts.

So I got to thinking about people who hoard paper. You know the ones, I wont mention any names *okie rattles them off in her head though*, they seem to have enough paper to last every winter for the rest of their lives. My theory is these folks have some kinda papercrafting instinct. They knew the economy would get bad and so they started buying paper to store for the hard times to come.

The next time someone says you are nuts for having so much paper just tell them you are not nuts, but instead you are a squirrel!!

  1. Okie,

Love your thinking about this. I'll admit I'm a paper hoarder. You just can't have too much paper.
    Also, love your blog.

  3. So I think my husband might actually believe this theory! You see I have this affection for squirrels that has spilled into the rest of my life, I collect any form of them I can find and have interjected them anywhere into my life that I can i.e. licence plate, email, blog..... So Thankyou for finally finding a way for me to explain my addiction to paper and embellishments to my husband!! Visit my blog at squirlygirlcreations.blogspot.com if you feel so inclined :)

  5. Ok - I admit it - I am so guilty of this - I have enough paper to last several hundred people a lifetime *sigh* But does it stop me from buying more - of course not - what would life be without more PAPER

  6. I am a hoarder by heredity... BUT my parents keep EVERYTHING. I just hoard crafting supplies. What's nice is that I can now walk into Michaels and Hobby Lobby with coupons in hand and great sales everywhere.... and walk out without buying anything. I'm set! If I were to lose my job (God forbid), at least I wouldn't have to worry about spending money on my hobby because I own it all! LOL (At least I guess that's how I see it and why I've been adding to my stash here and there.)

  10. This theory works for me Okie. It sounds very logical, plus I can always tell my husband that this stock pileing thing I do with paper ( as well as a few other craft products, fabbric included ) is actually a good thing.

  11. Yup.. she was talking about me! I knew it! And now I have an excuse too! I went to a swarm recently, and brought ALL my paper, in one of those stand up paper sorters you can get at HL.. I think there was 28 slots, each slot clear full.. Id guess, 5000 sheets in all? I was told I had my own paper store at the swarm as I was selling paper since we were out in the midst of nowhere... :)

  17. I too am a paper hoarder (insert 12 step program requirements here) If anything should happen to my house by fire all I can say is I have a lot of explaining to do to my insurance company!!

Its the equivalent to someone who loves to shop for shoes or clothes..they look in their closet for something to wear or a pair of shoes to match and they just can't seem to find the right shade and then say...oh well better go shop for more!! There are worse habits than paper hoarding I say...
